Ok, this needs a serious thread. :)

As you may know, im remaking the original Demo episode of Half-Life, a.k.a. Half-Life: Uplink. A short preview of my remake can be found here.

Meanwhile, i completed the first part of the second level, which begins when you go through the changelevel in the elevator. To keep you guys interested (looking at Elon and Ansith) here are two screenshots of the hanger corridor and the hangar itself:

I downloaded that last week... bloody good! Although... won't you get comments on it in the map vault?! Anyway, yeah it was cool. Great archteture, (cant spell) and lighting was A+ as well.

My only complaint is that I thought some things were a little big... maybe just a personal preference!?!?! :P I think maybe I have a bad eye for dimensions.

I just wanna see the full version... any idea how long? But so far... great work.... don't let it slip! :cool:

O common, I open this thread hoping for your announcement that you finished, and all I get is screens of level 2

They do look great though. and the one in the vault plays well

This takes a little more time then you think... Please try to keep posting in this thread so its not going to be forgotten. :)

Btw, im quite satisfied with my extremely carefully constructed vent system behind the smashed coke machine. Texture allignment in the vents are 100% alligned!

Im going to add support for the barney zombie, and the soldier zombie. :)

And MAYBE one custom weapon. I was thinking of the Desert Eagle from OppFor.

Im glad you're insterested, Kol. :) Makes me wanne map faster! :P

I finally got Barney to reload his weapon after he's fired 17 shots! :D This will be included in the UE. :) Thanks goes to TawnosTUT for help. :)

In other news, ive started work on the outdoor part of the mod, you know, with all those blue and red containers. :)

No he's not in the HL:HS code yet , but that can be done pretty easy. :)

You know how I think about this, Muzzle. Nice, but it's not the exact alignment and stuff that makes a map interesting. Indeed, as Kol said, somehow the original looks better. Athmosphere is hard to grasp in the finer details.

Oh, and think about proportions if you want everything perfect anyway - those metal bar edges on the catwalk are really big compared to the catwalk itself. Feels odd.

Besides that, yeah, going fine, you just know how I think about this. (Or in other words: I wanna see those additional maps! :))

The Original Uplink maps were compiled with different .rad file settings, making the lights shine different then it is today. I still needs tweaking, lots of it, but im not going to make things any bigger or smaller then it is in the oriignal.

I'd say make the lights more "Spot down", and add env_sprites as flares right next to the lights.

Looks very good though, the crane-thingy in the ceiling makes it look fresh.

You know - this whole setup looks way too hl-ish... Why not make some custom textures for the crates and containers? It would much less HL.. :)

Yea - HL has its own "Feel"

MAking any new textures would destroy it.

Using Blueshift or OP4 textures is ok i think - they have the same "HL feel"

Meanwhile, tried to make the hanger a bit darker. I also added spot_lights to create those circular light patches on the floor:

Just a little bit brighter and i'm happy.
I like the detail on the crane and ceiling so keep detail like that all the way through this mod.

I just couldent help but notice (this is the only time ive had a good look at the placing of the boxes, the origional are more to the right and yours are closer to the left.

Not by much, but the 2 stacked red containers closesed to you you can see to the bottom of the ones outside and the original you can't. But don't change it i was just plaing spot the diffrence ;)

This area is still WIP, im not satisfied with the lighting. Gotta love its atmosphere (HL feeling)!

There are still several area of the mod that needs some tweeking, but the overall architecture is pretty much done.

Yeah, i tend to do that, but i also want the light to match its original. I may add some spotlights to light things up, so that some area still appear dark-ish. I don't know really.

Haha, made something cool for Hunter yesterday:

An enemy barney. He attacks other barney's, sci's and the player when he sees them, and other barney's attack him too. So freakin' hilarious: To barney's go berserk on eachother! Teh funny.
