i have added pipes to a few maps i made, but i could never get them to bend, any suggestions? :)

You dont actually bend it. Its made of 2 separated pipes that are 90 degrees to eachother. You can just use the cliping tool to cut angles in each pipe and then place them together.

Very nice tutorial although the pipe's texture needs to be aglined later and it's quite hard to make it look good.

Unless you use another texture that doesn't need aligning :)
