My first Jedi Academy map was very recently uploaded on JKA files.com and i really wanted to bring it to your attention.

http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/Duel_Firstgo;50820

And i want you to compare the review i got for my first map to someone else's first map.

http://jediknight2.filefront.com/file/Mustafar_Duel;50822x#759604

Im very happy with that result ^^

does anybody else here map for anything but half-life & source?

The map in the second link makes me want to puke. I don't know why you're comparing him to you, because you're obviously better. Your map sort of looks like it would be good for HLDM, too.

its way too small for HLDM, but thanks.

Looks nice, your map. Seems the textures deal with the smaller details while the architecture does the bigger things, which is just fine.

Comparing it to another one's (obvious) first map is useless though. This isn't your first map, it's just your first JK map. It's probably his very first map ever... ;)
And indeed, such maps shouldn't be released as being finished playable maps, imho. But oh well, there are mappers, and mappers, so, yeah...

Nice Hunter, looks pretty good!

So tell us, how is it mapping for JKA? I've always wanted to because I'm a Star Sars freak, and JKII/JKA uses a better engine--Quake III?.

Give us teh skinneh!

I always thought it wasnt a very good engine to be honest. Not because of Quake3, but because of the horrible loading times and framerate in "Jedi Outcast" or "Medal of Honor:AA". Of course I'm comparing it with the Unreal Engine of that time or the Serious Engine.

What program do you use to map for Jedi Academy? Qradiant or something like that?

Qradient, yes. The loading times aren't that bad really (hell, compared to Source's gargantuan load times - for me anyway).

yeah, QTKradient specifically modded for JKA & outcasts.

It does nothing that VHE can't do and it takes far longer to do something as simple as a light >_<

no smartedit.
