the previouse forum was not answered because I still get put into the walls when I change maps. How do I make it change maps without being warped into the wall? It is very odd.

... Did you do all the things they told you?. I mean, did you set the change level and info_landmarks properly. This kind of thing seems to be caused by an info_landmark oddly set that warps you into the WRONG part of the map :(... When spawned (and this is important to me), do your angle looks good?, i mean, are you rotated in the... X or Y axes?, do you see your level from a strange angle?. If this is happening something is wrong. Try to do the following:
-Copy EXACTLY each and everything in your starting level and paste it into the destination map. Move the trigger_changelevel back so it?s not triggered when entering and then try the map.

I had this exact same problem with my map. I had a hallway right and then it changes levels to continue the hallway. When it changed i got lodged in the wall. To fix (JB helped me on this one) i first deleted both hallways. Then make a new map and make a new hallway. Texture it put whatever u want in it. Put a trigger_changelevel in. Now copy all of that into both of the maps. Don't fit the hallway to the room fit the room to the hallway. The hallway must NOT change its shape AT ALL. Now put in the info_landmark on the 'floor' of the hallway but not in the floor. Do this to both. Put them right up against the trigger_changelevel. Now imagine looking at both maps at once ok? Lets say it goes from left to right this hallway. In the first level, the info landmark goes on the LEFT side of the trigger_changelevel. Remember how the trigger_changelevel is the same cause u copied it from the hallway map. Therefore in the original maps in both hallways, the trigger_changelevel is in the same place and is exactly the same. Ok back to the info_landmark. Name the first info_landmark lm1_2. With the second one do the same except that it goes on the RIGHT side of the trigger_changelevel. Name that lm1_2. Set the properties for the trigger_changelevels. Make sure to fill that in correctly.
Also make sure ur map names are short, contain no capital letters and preferably no underscore. Run the map and all should be fine as long as you follwed all these instructions. Good Luck!

Ahhh!

It appears I have never appeared in the wall anyway. I have appeared away from the map and have appeared sideways as well. It is very strange that it is sideways, why?

P.S. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 21:13:14 UTC Post #8305
erm are you sure that your landmarks/ on both maps in question correctly configured and have you configured your level change properly, the sideways problem happaned to me a few times until i found out my landmark was wrongly configured on one map.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 22:35:26 UTC Post #8314
how would you rightly configure it?

Also if ur facing the wrong way, u might have to totally rotate one of ur levels to get it to work. The instructions that i gave above is the way to fix it. It needs to be absolutely perfect. And i mean perfect!!

na, just change the direction of the landmark.
Posted 20 years ago2003-12-18 23:09:55 UTC Post #8325
Yeah that could work....
I just found it worked better to rotate the whole level. A lot of texture to be done after though :P
OK BrattyLord if u still can't get it to work then ur possibly not following my instructions carefully enough. Sorry that the way it is! Post ur map up I'll take a look for ya

this is the error that I've been getting.

I'm new to HL mapping and have done TFC for some time, so please tell me and don't laugh.

what is an rfm or an rmf?

THis is a custom MOD in the custom game option, if that helps...

thanks :)

Crap!!! Ok never had that before. Was this in the Compiling Window or in the game? Also its 'rmf' and this is the file type that is read by Hammer. If u need help on that, don't hesitate to ask! :)
Also is it ur own mod? Or someone elses?

Uh, nasty,

Did you compile through hammer and ran the hame to test the change?

Did you read the levelchange tut ?

Also, if you're mapping for TFC, or trying to run the levelchange through a multiplayer mod, then you shold not have any levelchanges in in the first place... Only singleplayer maps should have levelchanges.

an .rmf file is the file hammer uses, then it exports it to a .map file, which all the compile tools use, the compile tools write a .bsp which is your map. (As anthony said)

The error occured when I was running the map when I came to the spot that sould have made me change levels.

It is my own MOD and I was testing it using the custom game feature in HL.

this is verrrrrry bad and has wasted a lot of my time (a week)

I have read the tut and I downloaded the map, Which works by the way, and have used the same basic thing, only with doors at either ends and different textures.
