Take a stroll around the backyard and suddenly find something horrific. Aliens have indvaded your privacy while you were busy standing. Now take back your backyard by finding a way to go ontop of your roof. Once there you can finally curse and shout at space looking like a idiot.

Even though my map has no triggers and anything its just my first map and im testing it and awaiting feedback.

hmm.... zombie got stuck in wall.
lucky you included the .rmf!
Commented 20 years ago2004-08-10 18:04:15 UTC Comment #3254
oh and, please no spaces in the map's name, that means the console wont load it.
Commented 20 years ago2004-08-10 18:05:16 UTC Comment #3255
Please do not include files such as the .p0, .p1, .lin and .rmx ones. You do not need them.

It's good for a first map. Although it needs more attention to scale on things like the door at the begenning, its a good start.

Er, the game won't load it. The console is just for telling the game to do things.

You can have monsters stuck in walls without crashes.

hmmm.... well i've played it, and i have to say, it's good for your first map. though some monsters have the yellow-swirly disease. And you don't have to submit the .rmf or any of the other files, just the .bsp but since you did submit the .rmf, we can easily fix the yellow-swirly disease, the textures are a bit off, but i have to say, good-job. This is good for your first map. But maybe you could put a endgame text instead of the rooftop end thingie. and take that xen tree from inside the housie thingie, it pops up from the roof, anyway my score:

GOOD THINGS:

+alot of monsters
+trees fit in niceley

BAD THINGS:

-I dont think the level has sky, is that the void?
-texturing needs some work

oh and i like the end thingie,
4 stars

i mean the brushwork on the [END] on the rooftop, though a game_text would've fit in niceley.

Is there a post in the forums about how to put game texts?
I cant seem to find it.
Commented 20 years ago2004-08-10 20:21:55 UTC Comment #3263
The level has no sky, just a BLACK texture.

Since r_speeds are fairly low, id take a look at ZombieLoffe's texture example maps and see if you can do it with the textures in this map, it would add lots more depth.

Game_texts are easy to do. Place a pointentity and change the type to game text. Then set the options and trigger it when you want text to appear.

I wont download it until you fix those things, but it sounds like your getting better feedback than most.

there is no way I'm going through and fixing every zombie that's stuck in the ground! some words of advice Reigy:

-Never place monsters or entities on the ground, place them about 16 units above the ground, don't worry, they won't be floating, because they'll fall down.

-don't include all the worthless files in the zip

-test your map first

-include a sky (but not a skybox)

its ok for a first map, but texture alignment is terrible.

but it'll be worth it in the end ;)

I rate it 4 stars because it is good map!

Despite all those bugs, here's a review:

+Great for a first map!
+Plenty of fun!
+Good ammo amount (unless you're a noob)
-Bad lighting
-No sky

3/5, but since this is your first map, I'll give you a four.

Very good first map. Fun to play. A little too dark, perhaps. I give it a 3, first map or not.

Yay! 35 downloads! COoL. Looks like Theres no need for me to fix this anymore. Im gonna use your advices and make a map which I just submitted after 3 weeks (i think..) Its gonna be in the Unfinished maps. But its addictive and fun.
Dont worry its not a noob map.
