This is my first map. I started out with a theme (a mining area) but just turned into whatever. A bit of a learning cycle to try different things. It's a simple map, but has quite a bit of area to it. I'd like any comments/questions/critisism/whatever. I'm looking for ideas to improve my techniques and general knowledge in building maps. Yes, it's my first ever map for a FPS game. I've made Ultima Online maps, but that's a completely different concept. Granted, I restarted from scratch about 5 times until I got something decent, but the map reflects the basic drawing I started with about a month ago.

what do i need to do to play map? i have no valve/maps folder. i do have a halfilife/maps folder.

Someone seems to have killed the ratings severely on this. I remember when I first saw it, in a french net cafe and it had good ratings.

Great props and and detail items-- train track and rail car, lanterns, etc.

Interesting Idea, and tough terrain to easily pull off in HL, but I think you did a pretty good job!

func_tank + dm = Awsome!

My only real complaints would be an overly complex and big layout, and sparse weapon placement.

For a first map, this is damn impressive. Almost... too impressive. It looks fairly well-made, but it is far too massive for the three sets of textures you used to fill up well. All the paths are too similar, and getting lost is a breeze. Don't get me wrong, as a first map, it's brilliant... but there's too many flaws for it to stand the test of time.
