IDK man, when all this stuff started happening, they also made the game free. I get that they're a corporation and that profit comes first in order to stay alive, but I still think people took the whole hat thing a little too far.
It's not like they subtracted anything from the game, it's just little additions that barely affect the gameplay at all.
I like Team Fortress 2 way back before hats and I like Hat Fortress 2 as well. Go figure, the game stayed pretty much the same.
The fact that vanilla servers are so rare attests to this. If everyone hated the "new" TF2 so much, and loved the old one so much, I would think vanilla servers would be quite popular. Instead, TF2 is basically the most popular game on steam.

Logitech rocks. The MX518 is the AK-47 of gaming mice. I love mine striker. Someone suggested I upgrade to a G500 or something, and I said I would- in fifteen years when this one finally breaks.

I think what Satchmo is trying to say is that you should attend all job interviews with a crowbar in your hand. Maybe wap it against your left palm every minute or so.
They'll see what a fix-it-himself type you are and hire you on the spot!

Wow you are way worked up about this. See, before, you didn't specify that you would also flip a shit at a straight couple making out in front of you. No problem here friendo.

If just the idea of seeing/hearing about it pisses you off, then you kinda do have a little problem with it. Not a big problem, just a little one. No big deal.
I'll edit just for even more clarification of how small a problem that is- in some parts of the world they just burn you or stone you to death for it, not wanting to see it on a train is a small problem.

Wow, cool illusion. Reminds me a bit of "5D space" in the Marathon engine. You could have two difference spaces occupying the same space, based on where you entered said space. Confusing to say the least, but lead to some very creative, engine-pushing uses one people experimented with it.

Definitely a nice tutorial- but the results don't beat cs_militia's river. Of course, that would take some serious modelling skill to replicate and this is a good looking alternative to it.

Good stuff! This should definitely be taken beyond this mini-compo because the house is a great basis for some gameplay. It's easy to see where and how your time working on it was spent, and I agree with where detail passes were made and what areas were deemed less important. Overall the work feels deliberate and well practiced, no evidence of struggling jumped out at me. It is what it is, a quick flex of mapping muscles that demonstrates really solid foundations. It's an excellent jumping point for a fully-fledged dm or even cs map. I'd love to see the house in Source in all of it's hd glory as well. Higher detail lightmapping, hdr, glow effects, and contrast would really make the brushwork pop!
I'll rate it 4 stars because a star's worth of finishing polish would make this really grade-a stuff!

I'm wondering just how "beginner" you're trying to go. If you just mean getting good at painting, then aside from learning the basics of layers and the brushes, there's very little to teach. The best thing to do is to just jump right in and doodle around. Do lots of experimenting! Try all the brushes!
Photoshop can seem daunting because of its multitude of tools, but odds are you will only ever use 5% of them. Once you figure out what those are and where they are it's a breeze.

Skals, I got a question: Does it also make you want to puke when you see two chicks making out in front of you? Because two chicks making out would definitely qualify as "really 'gay' stuff".

It can be. There is nowhere in the US where everyone is of one mindset, obviously. For example, Texas in general is incredibly conservative and religious, but the city of Austin from what I hear is very open minded. Drive five minutes out of it and it's a whole 'nother ball game.

If you're looking to find bigots to argue with, you probably won't have much luck here :P. Most people here are of average intelligence or above it, and have pretty good heads on their shoulders. Personally, I love telling people that they need to learn another adjective or two when "gay" seems to be the only one they know. I even make suggestions sometimes. Much bigger words that actually mean "stupid".
And when I hear someone call someone else a fag, sometimes I ask why they don't call them a nigger too. The best thing ever was when one time a kid at work responded with "because I'd get stabbed!" and so I said "Oh, so let me get this straight- what you're telling me is that if I want you to stop saying fag that I should STAB you? That's what you're saying???"
That shut him right up, lol!

Sucks that they can just demand ID from you for no reason like that. Here unless you're driving or buying alcohol you don't have to have it, or produce it should they ask unless you're doing something wrong.
Unless you live in Arazona and are brown, then you're shit out of luck.

Daub, DICE have already announced that they have heard the community loud and clear on the squad management. The ability to view all squads, create new ones, and see who is lone-wolfing WILL be in the final product.
Also, for this weekend the conquest map Caspian Border has been opened up. All of the 64 player servers have unplayable lag levels unfortunately, but if you can get into one of the few 32 player servers on the map you will have an absolute blast.
2v2 dogfights with those jets is arguably the most fun that I've ever had playing Battlefield. Talk about intense. I LOVE the fact that jets appear in the spawn selection menu and you can pop right in one after you die, it really has cut down on the jet camping. Even if you sit there for five minutes waiting for a jet and ignoring your team and the objective, you might not get it because someone can spawn right in it as soon as it appears. Everyone should give it a try today before the map closes again.
All beta bugs and glitches aside, I am absolutely psyched for this game and even went out and bought a 560ti the other day just so I can play this game the way it was intended, like butter!
Anyone can add me on Battlelog, my soldier name is Legitzkrieg and I play to win. Remember guys, PTFO!

Wow, you're getting it worse than me. I'm on the north shore of MA and we've only lost power once, for a second or so. Other than that just some wind and rain. I think I'm right on the outskirts of this thing so that's nice.
I hope your property and everyone is fine over there! Dry that basement out, mold is the worst thing.

Voted. Don't sweat failing a driving test one or twice. So many people fail. It's pretty expected really, when the other outcome is being told you are now free to hurl yourself down crowded streets at high speeds in a four thousand pound, full metal death machine. Good luck next time!
