Well, this is the first time I'm properly surfing the internet on a mobile device. I'm currently traveling at about 80 km/h( know this thanks to my integrated gps :-) by train, towards my home. I`m also at about 200 m altitude. Although the screen is kinda small, I'm getting used t to it. Also, typing
on the touch screen is muxh fsster thanon tegular phone ketboards, but with some mistskes...( obvious).
It'll be odd to read this again on my pc once i get home.

After having a Nokia 6131 for 6 years, I finally bought a new mobile phone.
The one right for my budget was Samsung Galaxy Mini, and it will arrive sometime this week at my door.

Any Android applications suggestions?

Yes, I know its display kinda sucks, I originally intended to buy Galaxy S, but I don't have that much money.

[NEWS EDIT!] This is very important.

A friend stumbled on this:

Btw, about that friend. Do you know he's actually a member on twhl? Heh, TWHL is more than a mapping community. It's a virtual place where some people meet and become best friends :). I met him here 4 years ago, and through a coincidence, he's romanian too.
Here's his profile.

[EDIT] Oh btw, I rediscovered an old map I've put a lot of work into. Cs_Assault_Market. Yep, it's a rip. But I've worked for weeks on it in 2007, it'd be a shame to throw it to the garbage. I mainly abandoned it because it wasn't practical to wait ages for it to compile, it became huge. I didn't deleted it because I knew somewhere in the future, with a lot more computational power-efficiency I'll be able to compile it.

And that's what happened. Got Hammer 3.5 reinstalled, installed The Compilator with HlFix and SHLT 3.9 which take advantage of my upgraded dual core processor. The map was compiled, in a huge box(a truckload of problems to rectify and modify!)(this was only a test to get it to be playable, so I can fuel my nostalgia even more) in under 15 minutes! That's almost like source compiling guys! Normally this would have taken easily more than an hour.

I also decided I'll make it a hldm map. I didn't realise at the time, I was carried by the wave of modification, being obsessed of having an entry and rooms in every damn building you'd see in cs_assault. But now I realise that Counterstrike demands simple maps, or if a remake, simple additions, not a ton of them. A good example I always remember was very fun to play with my friends: cs_assault_1337 and there was another one that had 2 routes for the hostages. Bot of them had simple additionsmodifications that made the map a lot more fun to play.

It will be fun to play in HLDM once I finish it, though :). Not going to waste a lot of time on superoptimizing. It's not really a problem, on my pc it runs very smoothly(come on, hl is an old game already). And a lot of you guys have modern pcs.
It's not really a problem. Seriously! Even those with older pcs will be able to play it... decently.
I mean, the r_speeds are not that bad in some areas...
It's no more than 4500 2500 wpoly :D.

TL;DR :
-Epicsode 3 is here.

-TWHL isn't just a mapping community, it's a place to make best friends

-Nostalgia made me reinstall Hammer, The Compilator, Hlfix and SHLT 3.9 to finish some of my old mapping projects. Expect a hldm map soon.

Almost 3 hours since I'm legally mature. I feel like a child unprepared for adult responsibilities :(
Oh man, how did time pass like this? It was like yesterday I entered highschool, and had no concerns about my future...

On the bright side, I'll soon be able to drive cars :).
Feels quite odd to know that I can be independent from now on. And scarry.

Soup Miner is feeling special today. Probably because he's turning 22, heh?

Dear Soup Miney, happy birthday and best wishes!

I read a bit about eye colour on Wikipedia, since I really only wanted to find out why I am one of the "lucky" 22.3%( not sure if only reffers to USA) of white population to have blue eyes.

Turns out there was a genetic mutation in a common ancestor,
probably living in the northwestern part of the Black Sea region (around modern Romania) 6,000–10,000 years ago during the Neolithic revolution.Eiberg stated, "A genetic mutation affecting the OCA2 gene in our chromosomes resulted in the creation of a 'switch,' which literally 'turned off' the ability to produce brown eyes."
I was surprised to see modern Romania was the territory where blue eyes appeared. I was expecting to be something like Russia, Finland, Norway or Sweden, since I thought that solar radiation is less around those parts and the melanin pigment is not as useful. Romania is in a calm temperate climate.

Wow...

Is this thing for real?
I didn't have time to test it yet, I think you can freely test demos. This is the beginning of cloud gaming(frankly I don't really like this).

A friend gave me an interesting link:
The Romanian Naked Neck chicken mutation.

Hah, even my grandmother had a few of these. Didn't know it was specific to my area.

Is... this the new TWHL?
Long live the .info TWHL! RIP co.za

[EDIT] Processed in a speedy 71 milliseconds :o
The new host is certainly a lot faster.

Also, do any of you guys have any idea why Red Alert 2 just refuses to display the menu buttons in windows 7 x64? I have tried every possible solution to fix this(like setting all the .exe files from the game folder to Windows 2000 or 98 compatibility), and using a resolution fixer.
I am asking this for a friend, I don't play Red Alert 2.

[EDIT2] The urby remix...

If you are bored and want to have some fun, copy and paste this code into your adress bar:

javascript:var i,s,ss=['http://kathack.com/js/kh.js','http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js'];for(i=0;i!=ss.length;i++){s=document.createElement('script');s.src=ss[i];document.body.appendChild(s);}void(0);

It's even more fun on the "Post your photos" thread :P.

Also, I stumbled on something extremely strange on the internet:

A few days ago I linked on the forums a blog post about old RTS games, and in that blog post I also talked about Settlers II. I linked to the new open source project, but didn't offer explanation because I couldn't install it.

I now found out how to do it, so for the Settler 2 nostalgics who want to replay the same game from 1996 at a higher resolution, smoother gameplay and on multiplayer with their friends, scroll down on this article.(the last subtitle) Read and follow the instructions. Enjoy ;)!

I want to make some beef steak in my microwave oven, but I am a bit confused.

I know I should never place a metal object in the microwave if I don't use the grill option.
But the instruction manual provided with the oven says that I have to cook the steak on the metal grill that comes with the oven in 2 parts:
1. 36% MW - 64% Grill for 6-7 minutes
2. Only grill 5-6 minutes

And also, at the beginning it states that the grill should never be used in microwave mode.

Isn't this dangerous ? :\

I just couldn't resist linking to you guys this Uber Grandpa Dance.

Nearly wet my pants after 0:55.

[EDIT] Fine. For the sake making this journal longer I will also add that my parents bought a Juicer yesterday(you know, as in the Jack Lalanne infomercials, only this one is not from the infomercials).

Natural juice tastes so damn good! And it's like drinking health itself...
Now when I think of fizzy drinks and other stuff(like coca-cola)... what a load of bullshit.
