Ok,
So I finally got over to ModDB and checked my mail. G'Day Slay :)
While I was over there I saw a mod called 'The Noob Project' and thought it might be worth a look.

Here is the last post Dec 05:
Administrators can remove this MOD.
Its Dead because Half-Life fucled up on the computer and erased everything so we need to start from scratch.
I allready needed to start over 2 times and 3 is to much.
Ok, so I am sensing some frustration here?

Those of you thinking about creating a Mod and a Mod team may want to learn something from this.
I am not talking about backing things up... although you should, I am talking about mapping to your ability.

Here is there Help Wanted Post:
We are searching for a coder who wants to help us completing our MOD.
He need to put new weapons in game, general effects (particle system), etc...
He has to be a good person to talk to and has to make some fun while producing the MOD.
Interested???, send a email to removed@Hotmail.com or send a PM to me
What does that say to you?
To me it says complicated, indecisive and defies the Mod's title.

Here is the bit of advice in all of this:
Keep it simple.

The HL engine is incredibly flexible and usable, so why not use what is available.
Bringing a coder in to replace weapons and add effects is pointless if you are running a Noob Project.
Build simple.
People will download finished product even for HL1 if it looks Ok.

Oh, and keep going.

Today in history
Challenger space shuttle explodes

At 11:38 a.m. EST, on January 28, 1986, the space shuttle Challenger lifts off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and Christa McAuliffe is on her way to becoming the first ordinary U.S. civilian to travel into space. Beginning January 23, she was forced to wait six long days as the Challenger's launch countdown was repeatedly delayed because of weather and technical problems. Finally, on January 28, the shuttle lifted off.

Seventy-three seconds later, hundreds on the ground, including Christa's family, stared in disbelief as the shuttle exploded in a forking plume of smoke and fire. Millions more watched the wrenching tragedy unfold on live television. There were no survivors.

I see all these really cool looking maps for source. And there are even really cool ones for regular counterstrike. The skill these people have is amazing. Their worst put my best to shame. The detail, the scale of the level itself, the comments, the imput. Everything seems to go so well for them. And im stuck with 8 levels that i just plain give up on.
I have no inspiration, and when i get inspiration, my limits or those of my machine or the engine hold it back.
Am i just a pre-disposed failure?

Damn... I never knew how incredibly bad the half life engine really is.
Or is it me? Just SUCKING at making maps? I can model and detail quite well, i think. But the layout lacks functionality, and the r-speeds are quite bad.
I cant really devote enough time to this as i originally wanted to. Between Work, School (its exam week), and Robotics (Team 1071, MAX),
It leaves like.. 3 hours a day free time, and with that im probably playing guitar or going to taco bell with my band. :| sigh :|
This map is coming out great. Astecially that is. I need more time to mess with hints and such, i should probably split up my Func_walls too... After reading that Hint tutorial, it SHOULD help the r-speeds a bit. probably like.. 4

Portfolio update!

Finally. I haven't updated in ages. I've been way too busy with school and such lately. Anyway, I've added a screenshot of Trirena, a screenshot of a game a friend of mine is writing and for which I'm modelling.
I've also added some drawings and soon I'll put up some AI programs I made for school. And there's some articles planned, that basically are finished but not proofread and polished yet...

Here a little something I working on. Its really just a test and I plan to do far more complex maps. I guess it's the opposite of a rat map.

darkphoenix_68's latest entry sparked something in my mind, I too was doing a pre-post disaster map, but making two levels is so much easier, and will have the same effect, I hope, thanks darkphoenix_68!
