I'm in the process of buying Arma II, mainly for Arma II itself tbh, and I'm getting it now because it's cheap. I might end up getting a new pc in two years or so, so maybe I will be able to play it eventually.

And I quite liked Far Cry 2. I didn't actually mind all of the driving and stuff, and I liked the weapon mechanics. If it were up to me however I would make it so that weapons degrade a lot slower, and do something to stop it being so easy to just go in and get a new weapon. Maybe closing the arsenal as well as the gunshop during missions. I don't think there was ever a single time during that game where I used a weapon that wasn't in perfect condition.

I still need to do the landing gear, the propeller, engine exhaust, and then detail the cockpit. I might put in some windows to make it the passenger version.

The engine itself is done, but it needs reworking. I noticed a few minutes ago that the drawings I was basing my measurements off were slightly off, in that the engine and cowling appeared as one size in the plan view, and another in the elevations. Looking at some photos, it turned out I chose the wrong one.

I do what PB said. I've lost count of the amount of times I've lost work due to going to get a sandwich or something, and when I've come back my computer has restarted itself.

Although with my most recent install, I set it to that, yet it would still automatically update, which was both annoying and perplexing. I can't remember how I stopped it from doing so. It may have been due to Norton being automatically installed with Windows.

in Liquid texture is bright in the dark? Post #310968
As far as I know there is no proper way to do this. Your best bet would be to either give the texture a high transparency value, or if you want it to be opaque, setting the water itself to be invisible and then adding a func_illusionary with the blood texture on top.

in texture alignment problem Post #310956
Measure the length of each side, and then add them together. For the sloping surfaces, measure the vertical and horizontal distance, and then use Pythagoras' Theorum to find out the length of the side.
As an example, I made this:
User posted image
It's a simplified version of what you have, set up with a grid size of 8.

So for this, you would calculate:
2(112) + 2(72) + 4(sqrt[(48^2) + (80^2)])
Which gives you an overall length of 741.18.
For this example, I picked a texture that tiles nicely, yet it's quite obvious when it's misaligned.

The texture is 64x64, so I divided 741.18 by 64 to get 11.58.
This is the scale you would get if you made a brush 741.18 units long and set the texture as fit to face. This ends up being quite stretched, so you would then divide it by a near whole number. In this case I chose 11, giving me a scale of 1.0528, or 1.05.

So change the texture settings to give a texture scale of 1.00 x 1.05, and then reapply using the alt + right click method.

On the left is the seam with a texture scale of 1.00 x 1.00, and on the right is the seam with a scale of 1.00 x 1.05:
User posted image
Unfortunately it won't come out looking absolutely perfect except for in certain rare cases, but it does make the seam a lot less noticeable.

Taking a leaf from Urby's book, I decided to play a point-and-click game I remembered from my childhood (not quite so early in my childhood however), so I downloaded the demo for Neighbours from Hell, a game for which I used to have a demo disk. Oddly enough, this demo disk also had Half-Life: Uplink, even though that came out almost five years earlier.
Anyway, the game(demo) itself isn't that bad. It could potentially be a fun time waster, if you've got quite a lot of time to waste. Assuming you get the full game though. The demo is only two levels long, not including the tutorial.

in Half Life map at fullbright with no leak Post #310708
I don't know if this is relevant, but I have occasionally had compile errors as a result of my maps having long filenames (I believe - in most of the cases where this happens the file name is quite long). Seeing as your map is called 'supermarket_normal', this may be the case. Usually the problem manifests for me as the map suddenly deciding on the nth compile that it won't actually compile any changes, but it might be causing this. Try renaming the file and see if that works.

Apologies for only skimming over the compile logs, my brain isn't functioning to full capacity at the moment due to tiredness.

I'm getting it at University of Limerick, Ireland. At first I didn't want to do it here, as this city has an extremely bad reputation for criminals and violence, but it was the only university to offer the course.
And it turned out to be a nicer area of the city, and the university is apparently one of the better ones in the country for engineering degrees, so that worked out well.

And regarding the maths, let's just say I hope you like calculus.

A short while ago I bought To The Moon on Steam. I got it because it was relatively cheap, and I had the impression from somewhere that it was alright, although I may have been mixing it up with another game. So I bought it, and started playing with very little expectations. I got about five minutes in before I had to go to bed, and I forgot about it until last night, when I decided to give it another go.
This time I played for more than five minutes, and this was sufficient to suck me into the story. This is an amazing game, one that I am absolutely happy that I bought. With that second playthrough I couldn't help but keep playing until the end. The characters were well done, there was plenty of drama (probably the wrong word, but for the life of me I cannot think of the right one), plenty of humor, and it had an interesting and engaging storyline.

The story itself is somewhat of a mix of Total Recall and Inception, although definitely more quiet and puzzle based than action-ey. The player characters are Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts, who work for a company called Sigmund Corp. that specialises in implanting memories into dying peoples minds, so that to them it's as if they fulfilled their lifelong dreams. In the game they are working for an old man, who's wish is that he had gone to the moon. The gameplay revolves around finding items that are important to the patient, and using them to travel backwards in his memory until you get to a point where the memories can be implanted. The gameplay isn't really difficult, and most of the time is less of a game, and more of a way of unlocking the next piece of the story. There are some bits where the game gets slightly more action, but these are the minority.

Overall, while the game was good, I wasn't fond of the ending.
[Spoilers, by the way]
While the ending was good, it didn't strike me as positive. Yes, John gets to go to the moon, and stays with River, but nothing about it was 'real'. Yes, that is the whole point, but it is not something I would have wanted had I been in John's position. While he gained all of that, and still had memories of River, they were fabricated memories, and he has lost all of his real experiences with her. Although I guess you could say it doesn't matter, as he will never know the difference.
[End spoiler]
That is not to say that it is a bad ending by any means. It is just one that doesn't sit well with me. You may see it differently.

Overall, my opinion if it is very positive, and I would absolutely recommend that you get it.

[Edit] I forgot to mention, as an idea as to how engrossing the story is, I started playing last night at around 2-3am, intending to give it a go for five minutes before I went to sleep. I finished at 6am, and I had to get up for uni at 6:30 am, a fact which I was fully aware of.
I am absolutely exhausted right now, and today is going to be a relatively busy day, yet I am happy I stayed up to finish it.

And as an added benefit you can figure out which of your friends are gamers from which ones think you're a crossdresser!

Although I've got to say, if I had access to fabrication machines to make good looking, rigid pieces I would be more inclined to make a HEV suit. And while making a gravity gun to go with it would make a good project, personally I think the crowbar is more iconic.

I had thought long and hard about what to make my name, I wanted it to signify something I was proud of. After some time, I decided on TJB, because it signifies that time President Roosevelt (the first one) awarded me the Trongressional Jedal of Bonour for saving the universe from the invasion of the Schnozzwangers from the Fifth Dimension.

But really, when I started out on the internet I didn't think of actually coming up with a name, I just used my initials.

Nowadays I use the name Alabastor Twob. I came up with that by thinking about what would make a good name. The word 'Alabastor' I got from this book, which I probably heard about from the Da Vinci Code. I thought the word sounded nice, so I used that. 'Twob' doesn't mean anything.

In an update to my review on single bladed razors, I got a hold of one the other day. The first day's shave was pretty good. It didn't feel like it was doing anything, but my skin was really smooth afterwards. It was an odd feeling, not hearing that scraping sound, yet leaving with really smooth skin. I've also found out that you can get blades for them really cheaply, in the order of 200 blades for €15. With that you could shave twice a day for two and a half years.

The second day's shave, I didn't have any more shaving foam. I thought "What's the worst that could happen?" and shaved anyway.

Don't do this.

My general opinion, is that single bladed razors are very good.
Just please, for the love of God, don't shave dry.

Anywho, back to the thread.

Die Krupps

I don't know anything about these guys, but it looks like nobody else wants to post, so I'll just do a quick* summary in my own words.**

Die Krupps is a German industrial rock/EBM band, formed in 1980 by Jürgen Engler and Bernward Malaka in Düsseldorf.

The band's name translates as "The Krupps" and comes from the Krupp dynasty, one of Germany's main industrial families before World War II. In some interviews the band stated that Visconti's 1969 movie The Damned — a depiction of the fictitious German industrial dynasty of the Essenbecks — was the main inspiration.

Ralf Dörper who was part of the initial line-up which created the highly acclaimed early recordings "Stahlwerksynfonie" and "Wahre Arbeit Wahrer Lohn" in 1981 left the band in 1982 to found the band Propaganda. Propaganda became one of the few German bands which were internationally successful in the 80s. In 1989 Ralf Dörper initiated a collaboration with Nitzer Ebb on an old Die Krupps track (i.e. Machineries of Joy, a cover of Wahre Arbeit Wahrer Lohn) which he produced together with Jürgen Engler. The chart-success of the record (Billboard-Charts) led to the reactivation of Die Krupps fronted by Engler and Dörper.

The initial Die Krupps sound throughout the 1980s combined synthesizers with metallic percussion. Die Krupps were key in the Europe wide progression of Electronic Body Music culminating with the collaboration in 1989 with British band Nitzer Ebb. In 1992, they began to utilize guitars and more sounds derived from heavy metal music, with the release of their album I and the EP Tribute To Metallica, which consisted of covers of Metallica songs. Combining electronic and metal elements was a pioneering move which led to a number of other bands using the electronic/metal combo as a template in keeping with a deeper industrial sound. The band continued in this vein through the 1990s, releasing II: The Final Option (with a cover influenced by Deep Purple's Machine Head) in 1993. A more experimental and pensive III: Odyssey of the Mind followed in 1995. After the release of the heavily metal-influenced album Paradise Now in 1997, the band disbanded.

Jürgen Engler founded the project DKay.com and released two albums in 2000 and 2002.

Die Krupps celebrated their 25th anniversary with appearances in some major European festivals as well as solo appearances in 2005 and 2006. In fall 2007, two greatest-hits albums were released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Die Krupps: "Too Much History - The Electro Years Vol. 1" and "Too Much History - The Metal Years Vol. 2", both in digipak format. Both albums were combined as the 2-disc "Too Much History".

The influential back-catalogue of Die Krupps has been remastered and expanded. So far four of their previous albums "Stahlwerksynfonie" "Volle Kraft Voraus", "I" and "Final Option" have been re-released.

To celebrate thirty years of "True Work" Die Krupps announced a joint European tour with Nitzer Ebb in spring 2011.
