Any path you want. Might make sense to put them in the Hammer directory. I don' recommend that you extract them into anywhere in the Steam directory hierarchy, though.

Isn't there a "sound" field anywhere for the func_vehicle? Most of the ones I've seen've been silent.

Don't know about the first one; I doubt you could teleport it.

autoexec.cfg is still searched for. Start a CS:S listen server, and look at the red "Couldn't read *.cfg" messages: they're the files it'll look for :).

Put NODRAW on the sides you don't want rendered, then?

When VMing, select a side marker (not a corner), and press Ctrl+F to split it in half, thereby adding more vertices.

No, you don't ever edit the PAKs. You just put the models in the actual paths, i.e. C:SierraHalf-Lifevalvemodels. If the directories don't exist, you make them.

Why not Run a simple Server like xampp or Uniserv?

You can turn it on / off with a click of a button... and you don't need to worry about setting it up.

Various things produce "map not found on server". There's no one helpful reason.

Don't understand your question about the transformation tool. It's not very useful, anyway, it's better to resize brushes by the handles; I don't think it sticks to the grid otherwise.

I've had it just carry on erroring until the hard drive was full, so don't complain ;).

Very few dynamic lights (switchable or flashing, flickering, etc.) can be close together.
