because it ruins r_speeds. hy use it, nobody's computer can handle something like that! If i'm desperate to add snow I'll just use Counter Strike's de_survivor snow sprite....... shiver me timbers.....

It does have more lighting, me being me, I am building so that you can go into most of the buildings which will as tons of lights to the map. If you're looking beter outside lighting, keep reading. But it isnt a night map. The fountain is a converted texture called scroll_water2. So it does flow. Lighting? I'm working on it. For some strange reason the light_environment will not get any brighter than a gray but the tops of the buildings are all normal brightness. I've tried setting the light to face down but to no prevail so if anyone has any help for me please do tell. Wow this is a long post. Thank you all for not spamming about r_speeds. behind me in the screenshot in the train station and the train tracks. Get this, I am putting in many original ad billboards and behind the train tracks is a big building with a myg0t sign on it. Just for laughs.

I had meant to keep this map a secret considering the whole de_full_city incedant but I have to show this one screen of yet another city map I am making. This isn't a Counter Strike map, it started as one but I changed it later. I'll change the map name later too. Some of you might recognize the screenshot from the old "gaining skills" thread. So... uhhh.. yeah. Here's winter_city(or part of it):

Holy stink! Winter City got an upgrade from its previous cs_winter_city map! New wads, new sky, new sounds. No matter what impression you get from the screenshot though this is not a ghetto city.
R_speeds aren't too high, around 1000 but I couldn't get them any lower. Get over it, I don't want to hear the words "high r_speeds" in this thread.

Think of Halo 2 in this moment of dispair. Lets pray that they don't delay Half Life 2 as much as Halo 2 is being delayed. (Which still isn't out yet if I a correct, delayed over a year!)

Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't want to release an upcoming map without bein sure of this:

Using the compile condition -wad <wadname> "welds" the wad to your map so that you can download the map and use it without needing the wads right?

Suspected usless posts that I already have responses for
So don't bother saying any of this.

-Merging wads with your map will boost the .bsp size.

And please tell me the paths to models and sounds.

Why can't I just check for myself?
I can't use GFC scape because it requires that special program. But the name sounds familiar and I hink I might already have a ersion of it on m computer and I am afraid to overwrite it with the downloaded version.

I know that spirit supports env_rain and that cs supports env_snow and env_rain, but I was asking is Steam Half Life supports snow. If not, just say so, please don't get this thread waaaaaaay off topic to the point of 60 posts about George Bush.

And as for yet another rsponse to Zombie, wow don't you read posts? My custom w_models and sounds don't work anymore. They are all the default now What more can I say?

Steam updated again today and now none of my custom w_models, p_models or custom sounds work anymore. if anyone has any info on how to fix this please do tell because I'm really annoyed now. Steam took away WON and now they are taking away customization.

Im saying it looks like a forest because the trees have the "leave light". I already aid something about the trees, or I think I did, if I didn't I meant to. But if you're making a map with huge r_speeds what can you do? OpenGL won't be able to cut it, you'll need to move to something faster.

7th, it doesnt go any faster beyond 1, Ive checked 1 and 100, they are the exact same. Playing on 0.2 and higher messes with alien slaves and they can't shoot you haha.

Actually a big killbox would be very good for testing the engine's limis. Think, you could check to see how good the engine renders things, what the max patches are etc.

You can just make a folder gfx/env and put them in there. You don't need a custom .pak to have a custom sky.

Its really big, its got tall glass boxes with people in it, and it involves rush hour.... hmmm.... yet another ** map from me? Most likely (the *'s arent a cuss word, its the type of map blanked out for the geniouses here)

As many of you probably already know for my map screenhots. I use custom models in cs and I love to show them off. For anyone who is bored with th default cs models or just wants to try some new ones I swear, there is no better place than this:

Yeah, Zoids is pretty cool, the series with Bit Cloud or however you say his name at least. The other Zoids series aren't that great. but geez, I'm 15 and a half and I'm sitting here talking about shows like Zoids and Gundam Wing.... I'm feelin' it yo!

Surprising, as I made the map itself in like 2 seconds. But I'll take the building heights and sidewalk textures into consideration. (I was experimenting, anyway, for good sidewalk textures). A special thanks to hazardous I can now add bullet time to the minigame. For the reflectvie street, well, yeah it doesn't look like its shiny right now but thats because its a stil screen. It shines ingame. I'm thinking about making a trailor for Life Gear in .dem format. Will that require wads and waves?

Awesome, thanks. I'll actually probably have it set to 0.02, 01 is too slow, yes I have been expreimenting (it fun to "speed hack" single player mode haha, try playing Half Life at host_framerate 0.15)

If you plan to make this map then forewarn people to switch to software mode or something first. But zombie, a forst actually is very possible. I know not many of you play cs but there is a map called de_predator thats a forest, and it looks really good too. The tree bases aren't that great but the maps got the light shining through the leaves and everything.

First screenshot of the Matrix minigame that will be with Life Gear, it has rain and a reflective street(you know, because its wet). I'll convert the grunts to Agent Smith models eventually too.
