You'd certainly have a bigger brush budget, so you could add a lot more depth, not to mention a whole bunch of new tricks entity-wise available with the input/output system..
Perhaps a Tron light cycle run with Nyans instead of bikes =P (future nyan compo!)

The thought of liquid cooling always struck me as just a really bad idea as well...
What about that non-conductive liquid, where they immerse the whole boards or your whole motherboard? I mean now that looks pretty cool =P

Custom sound is custom content. It's not allowed...The rules are a little different on this one, I know. Normally compo maps are judged with everything taken into consideration, but not this one.Yeah durr on me, thanks for the clarification

That would be neat Archie, 'specially for the trains! Even a red blinking sprite tracking down the path would be sweet. (connect the path with lines like it does in Hammer 4)
With as good as Sledge is getting, you have to wonder if the Valve dev's have a Deluxe version of hammer with much more capability(and we pleebs get the chopped/bugged beta ;))

I think we should make these official, with this being the first official TWHL minicompo.
It seems to me like a no-brainer to keep Atom and Rimrook in charge of these if we do, since all things considered, it went pretty well!
They don't all have to be map from base, but all short term, and one prize only(plus profile and/or participation medals).
Minicompos are fun, make them official!

I'm pretty much used to adding this much detail in my mapsHeh, after playing your map, now I understand what a truly detailed map can be... It's very inspiring actually to see what's possible in GS!
How you were able to put this together in a week, I will never know!
Anyone know if there are plans or is a workshop for GoldSRC? Seems like the're still a lot of very talented GS modders out there, and it's unfair they don't have an "official" way to showcase their hard work! ='(

Atom put on the contest(not TWHL), so really, it's up to him to choose which map you like the best. He's putting up the prizes with his own money for nothing in return, so to the people complaining i would offer my 2 cents:
You don't have to agree with his choices, but you should respect them!
Noone was more surprised than me to get a prize--The fact that I would have bet all the money in my bank account that Lajron would win, made it all the more impossible.

You realize you may be mapping a lot, when you are looking screenie in windows photo viewer and try typing Z(to toggle free-look)

Yeah, you're right Zeeba!(I forgot about transparent stuff)
Don't forget in Sledge, you get things like additional goodies like the sphere tool--works great!, and GS displacements(have yet to try displacements yet), and more!

Tetrahedron geometry is old news... It always looks like shit because of how it takes light.. In Rare situations It may be useful guess.
With sledge you get more tools so you really don't need it. Also, Scaling and lathing, and pretty anything off-grid works natively in Sledge! (no hlfix required)

Very first Compile in Sledge, and it went perfectly!
After selecting the wads properly out of my valve directory, everything worked stock! Easiest compile setup ever, Well done PB!
No errors except my own, such as making the transparent textures the right rendermode and adding lights! Sledge even preserved all my crazy brushwork: look at the spheres!
Everything looked on the grid where I left it, so the floating point thingie works perfectly too!

Tet: What are you trying to do? Sledge still has a few bugs, but 99% of major fetures should behave exactly like hammer.
One bug I notice has to do with editing a group and/or entity and Ignore Groups toggled. For example, shift+cloning only a portion of a group will meet with some strange results. (I recommend "to-worlding" a func_wall and ungrouping, before doing any cloning, Unless PB ninja-fixed it today
Atom: I was just about to submit my entry unfinished, but if you are saying we have the whole day of the 19th, I will keep working on it! (I vastly overestimated my ability to finish off the map at the last minute!)

The music and sound effects are I think what kept me playing this original title back in the day, and I will still occasionally playthrough the entire game on my trusty Gameboy Advance SP(the most perfect handheld of all time imo)

Great music and sound effects! I especially like the opera they made for the game!(Can't find a better-quality version atm, but it's awesome!)

Same, I can't draw figures, so I don't feel qualified to judge them... The face pose from your original post somewhat reminds me of the android number 18 from DBZ, which is good
I do agree with Stu that the legs should be a little more streamlined on this second one(or mabye just reducing the size of the ankles/feet a little would do the trick)

Still does it for me Peebs. Um, are you moving the origin each time? (you need the origin centered on each slice, so it scales evenly across the y gridline)

Tried it, and it seems to do the same thing with the checkbox on or off...

After just doing some quick tests in Sledge, I think what happened was the cylinder in question not being symmetrical caused the issue. (a normal clipped cylinder would not give you the concavity in Sledge)
