I don;t understand why my idea is such a curse to you guys... read the dimensions tutorial... I'v done the math - even the width to walk in between things is 30 units (2.5 feet, which is the standard door width for inside a house)

I challenge someone to make a room EXACTLY scaled to 1:1 (unit:inch) and post it on the map vault... I'm sure it would look pretty good.

I would but tonight my measuring tape broke.

ROFL.

Well, if you must duplicate houses and such, it's nice to have a point of reference.

Is there a way to add information to a lights.rad file without making duplicate entries (or 2 colors for the same thing?)

Also I'm assuming I don;t have to include the rad file with maps, and that the compiling makes the lights show up.

I've come up with a reference (sort of)

In my conversions, gordon is ABOUT 6.08 feet tall according to the "dimensions" tutorial and my reference of 1 unit = 1 inch

I took the standing obstacle height (73) and used that for inches... it comes out to 6.08333 feet. shrugs

Curious to know if there is a trigger you can set to immediately make barney angry at gordon upon opening a door (i.e. a jail guard on the other side of a court-room door after you've escaped custody)

Ya know how they start shootin at ya once you shoot at them?

Has anyone else ever run into this?...

This seems to happen if I run the map with the file open in VHE... but sometimes it doesn;t so I'm not 100% sure what causes it. Of course I don;t really see any actual map troubles as a result of this, but was just wondering if anyone else experiences this.

ROFL...

Let me explain.

You wanna buy a house... you go to your local realtor, and he says "take a look at this site, and let me know the listing ID #'s of the houses that look intereting to you"

On this web site is a searchable (or sortable) "spreadsheet" looking database of houses... You check out links within each record, and you have your house!

Now... THAT is what I am trying to accomplish - a web page for my wife's aunt and uncle where it contains a database of properties currently on the market.

http://www.pittweb.com/amsoto/

I just don't know much about it. :

SUGGESTION FOR IRC SERVER CHANGE.....

starchat has been going strong for years... channel registration is pretty easy and instant, but no bots stay in the channel unless someone parks a bot in there. But channel topic and such are preserved....

in IRC client (like mIRC) type /server Polaris.starchat.net:6667

Just a suggestion.

in One Way Triggers? Post #15520
I always have a "stadium" map for testing out theories and such, and right now am working on triggers for lights... the common "switch" just is too boring.

I have 2 possibilities that I need opinions on... what would YOU use?

1- A AAA brush filling the doorway to turn the light on when you enter, and off when you leave... (using trigger_multiple)

2- <STUCK!> This is where I need to know if there is a way to make a ONE WAY trigger... like the light comes on when you enter, and STAYS on even if you leave the room... (please forgive me but is THAT "trigger_once"???)

Well, once it stops responding I have to CAD out - it won;t run the rest of hlrad - or is it THAT slow usually?

in hlrad compile option Post #14684
hlrad is taking mroe than 10 minutes to compile a map, which at that point it "stops responding" and I have to C-A-D out of it (Ctrl Alt Delete)

I'm using the following param's...

$light_exe -bounce 10 -extra -sparse -high $path$file (in expert mode)

is it possible to MANUALLY go into dos and run hlrad? Would that speed up the process?

in OpenGL and gl_wireframe 2 Post #13675
I have been in OpenGL this whole time...

gl_wireframe 2 WILL NOT work for some reason, and it isn;t finding the command "r_drawflat"

I'm using the following command line...

c:sierrahalf-lifehl.exe -dev -console +map jail

Any time I make and compile a map, I use the "normal" compile options, and I click DO NOT RUN GAME... because then I use the START - RUN - and the commandline above, replacing the map name if necessary.

Could it be my video driver? :o :o :o
