Damn it dudes, I have a grade in webbdesign, I know that frames are good! They are userfriendly and can sometimes be good for the loading time but that's mostly for the 56k dudes...
Well, your teacher should be fired since he obviously does not know what the web is about. Semantic HTML is must in today's web design. Ergo, you suck, gb2 internet explorer.
I'd wager you'd say "Dreamweaver is a great tool for developing websites" too, eh?

Depends on the program that reads them. Apparently, copy /b just appends the second file to the first - WinRAR can read it because it only identifies RAR headers - it ignores everything before it.

You can merge a .rar with anything, but dunno about other types of files.

Pretty hot if you ask me.

To merge an image with a rar, use the command prompt:
Copy /b [archive.rar] + [image.jpg] [output.jpg]
Very useful.

Penguinboy, have you ever been on the HL:HS thread? Frames are a brilliant way to make a site look proffesional and behave proffesional. Where would you get such strange ideas? It's like having no phones in an office building!
Much like our dear friend who fights for freedom, Tosse doesn't seem to have paid much attention to the web since late 1996.

Frames are bad. They're horribly unsemantic, they hinder search bots, they block a lot of functions on the user side and they are generally ugly. A much cleaner solution to get a scrolling sidebar would be to use the handy CSS property position: fixed;. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer, our undying foe, can't handle any of the relatively new CSS properties (which are sadly the most useful ones), so you'd have to resort to JavaScript.

In any case, JS is much better than frames. I don't see why this is even on topic, though, TWHL3 will not have a sidebar that follows the user's viewport.

To be honest, I don't see where you notice all this hostility (which apparently is widespread) - the only place which ever gets really hoarse is the Gen Disc forums, and it's not like noobs go there for mapping questions, anyway. Questions still get answered in a (mostly) friendly tone in the HL/Src engine discussion forums.

Sure, the recent Stevey! incident turned a bit nasty (and hilarious) in the Source Engine forums, but he really was a retard. Not all new members are treated like that.

The attitude has been pretty much the same since I joined, from what I can remember... if new members are persistent in their idiocy they get flamed. If they ask sensible questions and actually use our advice, they don't. Now the Gen. Disc. (or Stuff) forum has always been another deal. Here, everyone's a bit more joking, a bit more offensive and, indeed, a bit more hostile... but in large, it's really confined to this area.

If you really feel the attitude towards new members has worsened on the question forums, do your part to change it. Be friendly, respond to every question you can. I'm sure people will follow suit, lest they feel like assholes.

in Website design from scratch thing Post #223285
As some of you may know, I'm into web design. Probably more than I'm into mapping. Anyhow, as of late I've made some "Web design from scratch"-videos, i.e. evolution videos, from nothing -> full design. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

Anyway, I thought I'd pimp them here. There'll probably be more to come, I enjoy making them.

So the whole concept, whilst sounding like a great idea, is actually the opposite.
I don't know why no one sees this: gun control works. Look at the rest of the western world, damn it. There's been no rampant increase in gun violence in countries where gun control laws are present. Law-abiding citizens are not constantly harassed by gun-wielding maniacs from which they have no defence. Governments have not turned into dictatorships.

Theoretically, gun control might be a bad idea. But practically, it works.
Even when a gun ban is in place, guns are still available; there will always be gun crime.
The point of gun control was never to eradicate gun violence. It was to decrease it. And regarding that, it's succeeded.
