I just converted my dm_detritus to sp_detritus earlier this month.

When I map, I almost get sucked into mapping completely. I get so engrossed taht I usually need to finish it in less than a week. Otherwise, I lose interest.

I am always afraid to start because I know it's going to take up all my time.

And as a full-time pediatrician, a full-time dad, a part-time weight lifter, and a part-time gamer, I already have too many things to do.

This is my new gentle but shy herbivore that lives in the swamps of Southern China.

It doesn't ambulate very fast, and it relies on camouflage to escape predators.

Its two modified proboscis can reach higher foliage, and its two hoofed feet offers stability when foraging.

The Creature Creator is $10, but the full game is much more than a creature editor. It's more like a civilization and biological sims.

This is Smoojie, my first pet.

Go to the object's properties dialog box, take a screenshot, and we can all take a look at it.

When you used light_environment, did you cover the entire brush with the sky texture? For that, I mean all six surfaces.

in BioShock vs. CoD4 Post #245845
Really? CoD4 has that endless enemy spawning feature?

If that's the case, then it really destroys a game for me.

That was the reason why I didn't finish "No One Lives Forever 2". I mean, it was a great game, but the endless spawning soldiers in Siberia was just too annoying (that and having to dispose of the bodies all the time--I felt like a cross between a janitor and a coroner).

Once I kill an enemy, that should be the end of that.

Half-Life 2 has some degree of recurrent spawning, but that was only limited to certain spost (i.e. certain spots of Ravenholm).

Tell me BioShock doesn't have the endless spawning.

Now that I have my graphics card upgraded, I need to decide which game to buy next.

I couldn't play BioShock before because my Radeon 9800 Pro doesn't support Shader Model 3.0

Now I can play both games with my new Geforce 7600.

Which game is better? I am leaning toward BioShock, just because I am a sci-fi fan and less of a military shooter guy.

I can certainly afford to buy a brand new rig.

I can also afford to buy a Porsch.

But it doesn't mean that's how I want to spend my money. I want the biggest bang for my buck.

And $80 for the GeForce 7600 is a pretty good deal, by any standard.

My specs:

Athlon 3200+ XP
1 GB Corsair dual-channel
Gigabytes GeForce 7600 GS
Some name-brand PSU that supplies plenty of juice

I haven't tried lower settings, because I am at work still. But I'll let you know whether turning down the settings will resolve the problem.

Currently, it's running at 1280x1024, high texture quality with AA (x2) and AF (trilinear) both on.

I recently upgraded my graphics card (from Radeon 9800 Pro to GeForce 7600 GS).

So I am playing Half-Life 2 again on the highest video settings.

However, I am experiencing very bad stuttering problems, starting from "Route Kanal".

The train station and the "Red Letter Day" part played well.

Do you think I might resolve the issue by reducing the water to "Reflect World" instead of "Reflect All"?

I can't test it now because I am working late tonight. The idea just came to me this morning, on the way to work.

Any thoughts?

I enjoyed it.

But I only got as far as the stridor/sniper/horde of Combine section.

It got too difficult to get past the stridor, the sniper, and then the group of soldiers.

You either need to have more health or health dispenser, or less powerful enemies grouped in the same area.
