I had a picture for this but i lost it somehow...anyway.

I have compiled my map in HDR. I have added a light environment, the three tomemap controllers that are being triggered by a logic_auto. Yet, for some reason, the models in the map are being super highlighted and look extremely bright, some are almost completely white, this includes the weapon models too. WTF!!!???!!!???

No-one in Oz with a half-decent internet connection... and with a maximum of 4 players all good servers will be full...

And whats more, everyone i know is not interested in buying it so LAN is out of the question

I don't know what Tetsu means by that comment...but

There are a set of stairs embedded in the wall on one side of the water pit area. There is also a button on the opposite side of the room which activates them. I won't tell you how to solve the puzzle, but now you know what to look for.

I've played the other two entries. Skals was good, not extremely puzzling but nice gameplay. Zeeba-G, i have yet to master your puzzle, but I have figured it out! (all without using any of your cheat books!

I'm sorry if the laser puzzle crashed for anyone. This is an error that has not occured for me or my testers, and quite frankly, the level is sooooooooooooooo complex there is little chance i could actually determine the cause of the crash.

#EDIT# I also got the strange water error. I didn't know what it was so i tried to jump in but i was out of there quicker than i got in! lol. I've got the other entries, Zeeba-G's looks good, i'll play tonight, got a work training session this arvo.

#DOUBLE EDIT# And Skals! Dude! Peace...

Might be a good idea to point out. Put the image on some external media, preferably read-only like a DVD, so that the image itself does not get destroyed. If worse comes to worse, format your computer and then use the image.

in Save error on map. Post #257796
I have got this strange error in my Half-Life.

Invalid function pointer in entity. Can't find address (bunch of numbers and letters)

This repeats dozens of times and then says it has saved. But when you load it the map is 'frozen'. Buttons don't work, triggers don't fire and sprites even stop animating. I thought this was a map problem but now it has happened on original HL maps and on both Steam and WON versions. This does not happen however, on MODS. I can load the same map in, for example, the TRON Glow mod and it saves perfectly. What is this mystery??

Okay, i just finished Dead Space in appox 10 hours spanned over three days and while the game is mostly unoriginal. IT IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!

The combat is so intense, after wrestling a huge creature biting my neck and managing to throw him off, I then find myself smashing my gun into his head, swearing my head off, and then when he is finally dead I continue to stomp him into the ground, abusing him.

The whole game is extremely well polished, even if it doesn't have anything new.

Bioshock it is then...

Yeah, seen that ages ago... hopefully looks better then the current bioshock but still has the good storyline. Thats a big problem these days, you get really good looking games that fall limp with no decent background and then really good games that look average but play great, like Dark Sector, little game with almost no advertising, graphics are better than average but not great but the gameplay is incredible and really fun. These titles are usually made by new developers

Yes, however, this problem usually goes away after doing a full compile, but you won't transfer any entites at all except the player so I recommend using a trigger_transition.

No, I don't bother because I can't pay for anything online anything, (don't have and don't want a credit card)

And back on topic, Tom Clancy's End War looks good ATM, however, I have only seen a trailer, not much in-game stuff so it may be....

in multi_mangager cutoff Post #257023
that won't work. instead, have the button target a multimanager that then targets a trigger_relay (that doesn't have a target) after the required delay and also make the button target a trigger_changetarget to change the button's target. Make it also target a second trigger_changetarget that tells the trigger_relay to target the desired entity. When pressed again, the changetarget changes the button to target another trigger_changetarget. When pressed a second time, the button targets a trigger_changetarget, that targets the trigger_relay to target nothing.

It is coming along. Slowly, unfortunetly, but it is coming. I have temporarily stopped mapping because of the current compo but a short beta version is coming soon. Now that i have the Steam version of HL and detailed textures and we found some good hi-def Half-life textures so we are also going back over the maps to update them.

On another note, if you know any good Half-Life coders who have Microsoft Visual NET 2003. Please let me know. I have kinda reached my capabilities without help from other coders.

I've done a killing so far. I have spent the last 3 days non-stop mapping from 8.30am till 6pm (minus 30 minutes for eating and toilet time). I have also created my most compilcated entity setup ever:

http://img523.imageshack.us/my.php?image=entitymayhemov3.jpg

This is for a very simple (yeah right) laser puzzle using mirrors to bounce differently coloured lasers into the correct portal.

Here are some map pics: (note that these are using detailed textures and I have the TRON glow mod loaded)

scaling up a texture DOES improve performance. Every time a texture tiles, it chops that face. So if you have a 64x64 texture on a 128x128 face it will chop it inoy 4 faces. Scaling up will stop this from occuring and instead chop 128 unit squares.

in LaserHowTo Post #256063
Thats a bit of the long-winded way. Just create a func_pushable. All solid entities block lasers, even players and monster so if someone pushes a func_pushable in the way of the beam it blocks it. If you don't want a pushable to break, don't check the 'breakable' flag! :crowbar:
