in null texture Post #18870
I'm making a fairly complex outdoor map, such that it sadly has to have a skybox hollowed all around it, but if i use the ZHLT null texture on all the faces that aren't seen will that improve the compile time etc?

Fact is that half-life 2 architecture complexity is completely unapproachable in half-life, as in tens of thousands of polygons.

going back to the point, it would help you a lot if you used wally or something to trim those textures down to exactly what you need rather than having corners everywhere, especially as it sounds like you making something with a lot of snowyness in.

Sorry to refer to this hornet's nest, but i've spent lots of time searching and tweaking my setup, and when i run spirit maps none of the spirit features work (no error messages). i think that it could be because it's trying to run through normal hl but i can't see why that should be.

What are the best paint programs that are free to download or trial? I'm thinking of paint shop pro and adobe don't seem too keen to give me photoshop for free. I mainly need one to make simple environment maps or modify existing images with features i can't find in things like microsoft photo editor.

if he was really talking about the multi-barreled automatic mortar that can fire in variable salvos and looks like a big white box, fair enough. But a vulcan cannon is a 20mm rotary cannon designed as an anti aircraft weapon, either carried in an aircraft or radar controlled and mounted on a ship/vehicle.

Film: apocalypse now, alien, gladiator, blade runner, the terminator (2 is good, but 1 is the best), get carter, robocop, predator

Please don't let "New World Order" be a euphemism for "ohmygod all americans are evil ohmygod they plan to take over the world!"
and also, i was referring to when saddam kicked the inspectors out years ago and rescusitated US suspicion.

B-52 should only cost a few milliion, especially from a reputable dealer. Looking a bit further upmarket you could get a joint strike fighter for about $38m, or if money really is no option then get an F/A-22 raptor complete with thrust vectoring, stealth, supercruise and a superb weapons package including JDAM and AMRAAM, a snip at $99m. (Or if you're Bill Gates, you could buy a Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier for only $4.5bn, although optional extras such as complement of 80 aircraft and 4000 crew will cost considerably more.)

in Ratio for a circle Post #15398
there is no ratio, just as said make a cylinder of x number of sides. Anything more is impossible within the engine constraints of half-life, or for that matter any polygon based game. (the definition of a polygon being a single planar shape that forms between a set of points)

that's weird...sounds like your hl.wad is mangled. Make sure that you haven't got only used textures ticked, but if it still doesn't work try getting a new one from somewhere. To get the texture itself won't work, as it's not a simple texture but one that is coded or something.
