You could make the couch an entity and kill it with the KillTarget field of something like a trigger_relay.

If you need the couch to stay and it's still playing up, you could have two couches if necessary, a sloid one that starts visible, then is killed, and a previously-invisible and passable (non-solid) one that appears afterward that the scientist can move through.

Then File -> Open, and then find half-life.gcf or counter-strike.gcf or whatever (in SteamSteamApps). Then... navigate it and right-click the file you want.

Urm... run VIS, that's what that's for. If you still desperately want to, you could use env_renders to make things temporarily 'invisible', but they're probably still rendered. Or func_wall_toggles.

Models in HL take their lighting information from the brush they're resting on. Make sure that clip brush is lit somehow?

Rabid: the thing I hate the most is that it replaces the "advanced" button with "Restore to what I think you should have" given the slightest chance.

You can with Steam, you just put the .MP3 in the mod directory and call it... something. I was sure I had an example in Counter-Strike but I'm afraid I can't find it.

You've probably not set the paths correctly in Hammer's configuration. Check them all.

"Mod directory" should be Half-Lifecstrike or Counter-Strikecstrike for WON mod/retail respectively.

If it's not that, there's probably an error when you compile. Check the log.

Steam: not great, but you could use it for playing. I do; use WON for mapping, and maptesting, but for MP and even SP I use Steam (for the music) :)

More complicated maps to study? Check out the Example Maps section of the Map Vault, there's some good stuff there.
