Don't do with Tito said. Install the CCCP if you're going to install any codec pack. Better than K-lite, probably won't fix your problem though. And VLC is the one and only media player if you want one with codecs built in.

@Huntey: No, I wouldn't be surprised. No sane person wants stupid, pointless, bloaty things in any application.
@Muzz: An application is not a game. Worthless functions such as this decrease the value of the application.

I ain't going to budge on this. If I saw this in any program I would want to use a lot, I would immediately close it and look for alternatives. Makes it look like a 12-year-old made it. Might sound harsh, over-critical, whatever - but it doesn't matter. If you don't know why it's a terrible idea, you need to start seriously thinking about learning some decent application design.

in Australia continues to censor Post #278162
It's not just violence that gets the R rating, and there are elements of the world that children should not be exposed to, but adults can decide whether or not they want to experience it - the government shouldn't have any power over that.

It's people like hotdog (who think that all R rated games would give positive feedback for extremely violent behaviour) that are screwing it up for the rest of us.

I'm not just talking about sexual content or extreme violence - it's a combination of many minor elements. There are a lot of R rated movies that don't throw sex and blood in your face, but are still not suitable for people under 18.

I believe that as games mature as a medium, they will start to evolve in this direction. And us poor Australians are stuck playing censored fucking shit that ruins the entire experience.

Life is R rated. Stop hiding behind the 'games are for kids' excuse.

in Math Problems Post #277411
This is a logic problem, not a math problem. It's impossible to solve it with equations like others have tried. Also, the wording of the problem was very important.

2450 has 5 prime factors (2,5,5,7,7). This means that the ages must be broken up into products of these 5 numbers. Because there are 3 guests, the logical breakdown is that one of these guests is a child aged 2, 5, or 7, and the other two guests are the products of the remainders.

These are the possible breakdowns in this situation:

2 - [35,35] or [25,49] or [5,245] or [7,175]
5 - [10,49] or [14,35] or [2,245] or [5,98] or [7,70]
7 - [10,35] or [14,25] or [2,175] or [5,70] or [7,50]

Now for the second bit of info: the sum is 2 times Sara's age. Without knowing that age, the only thing this gives us is that the sum must be even. BUT the kicker here is that Sara says that this isn't enough information, so there must be 2 or more combinations that add to twice her age. Let's find the sums (in order, getting rid of unrealistic ages):

72,76
64,54,108,82
52,46,82,64

Duplicates are: 64, 82

So Sara is looking at one of these two combinations:
[5,10,49] or [7,7,50]
[5,7,70] or [7,5,70]

The second one are identical, so the duplicate is:
[5,10,49] or [7,7,50]
(Also, this means that Sara is 32)

So the last bit of info must let Sara know which is the valid combination. Eric says that he is older than all guests, and Sara knows the answer after that. This means that one of these combinations has a value older (or equal to) than Eric. This would be [7,7,50] as 50 is the oldest age.

This means that the guest combination is
[5,10,49]
So Eric is older than 49. BUT he must not be older than 50, or the previous cancellation wouldn't be valid.

THEREFORE:
Eric is 50.

in Making a pc game to sell Post #277367
Sorry Muzz, but you're pretty much wrong about PopCap creating original games.

To use your two examples, Zuma had a lawsuit filed against it for copyright infringement of a 1998 game, and the Bejeweled gameplay originated from a 1988 game called Shariki.

Peggle is based on the Japanese 'Pachinko' machines and Plants vs. Zombies is based on the tried-and-tested tower defense gameplay. While all these games add new twists to the gameplay they borrow from, none of the fundamental gameplay elements are original.

Also, the people who are hating on casual games are idiots.

COD5 has a bunch of updates next to it, doesn't it? Should you check for patches or are you both running outdated versions?

Have you completely disabled Windows firewall? It has a habit of sticking around even after you tell it to stop. Find your advanced network settings and disable the firewall protection on the Hamachi network adapter.

You may need to set priority on the Hamachi adapter, it could be picking up your Internet port rather than your Hamachi port. You can change the order than Windows uses networks in one of the advanced network settings dialogs.

Have you tried disabling your firewall altogether (shut it down) to see if it's causing any issues? This sometimes happens to me.

Now, a bit off topic, but:
I'm planning on switching to Windows 7 very soon. Have you had any compatibility issues with ESET and Windows 7?

It's nothing to do with "liking the fact", and I never said that, or anything that can be extrapolated to that, so stop making shit up. IW are trying to engage the player on an emotional level, and that is what I like about this.

I don't understand how people can justify that it is fun to mow down civilians in GTA, but it's 'not cool' if the game makes you feel emotionally responsible for it. As Strider said, if anything, it's worse in games like GTA, where you get positive feedback from killing innocents, instead of negative like this scene in MW2.

It's already been said, but I'll say it again: you can skip the scene if you want to.
But I, for one, won't.
