I have only finished two maps, and both I was unhappy with, I am more pleased with the maps I dont finish than the ones I do....because I like master here, get bored with them. However, I have recently went back and started on my two favorite unfinished maps again. I am sure they will be completed within the month.

I would just load the point file, it will help you find them (in most cases, 1 at a time :) Just compile the map, bring down the console and type pointfile
easy enough? after it has loaded, look around for little white and black dots pointing at your leak, or its general location...... Most leaks are walls , ceilings, or floors that do not connect completely.....just a hint :D

See, a good ending for halflife would have been, his little bastard of a breifcase fell open, a revolver fell out, you pick it up, shooting him, bt not killing him....only wounding him causing him great pain and suffering....that would be nice.....but once you shoot him, in order to keep the whole thing going smooth for HL2's intro and ending.....a bunch of little gingerbread men could rush you, and tie you to a rail....see...all nice now isnt it...oh yeah, you can also spot the gman on a train passing the one freeman is on at the first of HL.

Ok, Im using Rhino 3D 3.0, I have modeled a bell....Rhino doesnt support .mdl......but it does support pretty much every other 3D mesh format.....what program can convert mesh models into .mdl?

Every little bit helps....the only thing this site doesnt have though is......errors, and their specific solutions...The forum rocks, its good to list the details of problems, but if its something someone could just go click on, and see their problem, with its solution beside it...now that would be on-time. I will help in anyway I can, I mean I know some errors and how to fix them, but a lot of you have been mapping for a few years now...you have seen your share of problems, and found their solutions..thats where your knowledge will be very useful to this avenue.

Perhaps creating a page for the most obvious problems and their solutions....for example...I have a huge problem with lights :) Could put a section for lighting within that problem page, and explain the errors, and the solutions to those errors....same for entitys, and so on....just a suggestion. :

I done a little test, I made a room, 512x512.....in that room, I put 8 entity lights, a tex light cube, and the sky light texture on 4 different cubes....rendered fine. So is the problem in my map, that a single light has to touch so many different surfaces? not that it is a single light, there are many, but is it that they have to touch so many different surfaces?

Im a noob at this, cant help it, everyone starts at the whole "noob" stage...Ive been mapping on and off for a year, but still I am noob.....anyway, if what you are talking about is the number beside the "snap to grid" thing, then Mine is on , and the number is 64

ok, heres a new question to pose.....if a brush has 6 sides with the same texture on each side, and the texlight you are using, is said texture, does that count for the four lights rule? Would that be a reason for the error?

Also, while on the subject, let me make sure this "rule" that haunts my mapping is even correct.....Am I correct to beleive that each room may only have a total of 4 lights? Please fill me in on this subject, and if you have time, any other details to go with it.

nevermind, I once again have found the problem....the crazy part is, it wasnt even an entity, it was a brush I had created to look like a log on my fire, deleted it....no more problem. ;)
