The hunter, Clean desktop. Those toolbars are anything but clean. Fuck me, those toolbars make the most annoying desktop I've ever seen.

You could use a func_train to fake the player "rapelling" down when he's just moving on a train. The hard part is the rope and osprey.

Not really, I'm giving you 1 for "bigger than 1024x768". That style isn't custom, right? I thought it was some windows-addon.

It's not a minus, clearly. It's just a dash between the names and points. In retrospect, I should've used a colon... damn.

LOL You fail. Internet explorer open, no antivirus or spyware control running (they're usually visible, I know some are hidden), cluttered desktop, standard windows xp theme.

Edit: Hell, lets make a scoreboard:
Custom Visual Style 2
Clean desktop 1
TWHL open 1
Leet programs in the tray 1
Cool desktop image 1
Above 1024x768 res. 1
Internet Explorer -2
Scores:
Luke - 3
Satchmo - 4
Penguinboy - custom visual style? I'll assume no, since that's a windows-made style. 2
TheGrimReafer - 1
Xyos212 - 0

lol, ftw.

It's not that CS needs more weapons - it just needs different weapons. Honestly, throw in a nailgun, flamethrower or RPG in there.

There are Decompilers for half-life 1 too, the one considered "the best" is called BSPTwoMap - but decompilers do not produce usable results. A decompiled .map will have lots of errors and won't be re-compilable.

Jeez, when did people "attack you"? The only one's that been very ad hominem in this thread in Trapt, and you should know better than to pay attention to his insults (no offence, trapt).

Initially, people were trying to give you helpful comments, nothing else.

Which maps would that be? The Half-Life 1 compo map or the other more than 2 year old maps? Really now, that hurt me. I suck at mapping, and I know it - but I don't go around expecting people to love me all the time.
Besides, this may be a moot point, but you don't have to be good at something just to criticize someone else in that field.

More like "kasperg replies with sarcastic idiocy and excuses and expects people to love him for it".
No, I'm fishing for putdowns, insults and any other kind of attack on me and my work rolls eyes - (sarcasm again!)
Funny, I thought you were looking for different opinions than your own, but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Exos: thanks. Finally some tips that make more sense and are not thrown out like an attack.
Don't you mean "Finally someone who likes my stuff"? You're just fishing for compliments and it's so god-damned obvious.
Also that is not a fact, it is your opinion; it would be more appropriate to say
NO, EVERYTHING I SAY IS ABSOLUTE FACT!!! ... Of course everyone's comments are their own opinions, not some sort of universal truth. Adding "I think..." to every statement seems rather frivolous when it's OBVIOUSLY just my own opinions, don't you think?

in Kasperg Projects! Post #198051
Wouldn't it be eaiser to either ignore the comments or say "I disagree" than start spouting sarcastic semi-insults at people?
Honestly, if you don't want our opinions, don't ask for it. Don't expect everyone to say "I LOVE IT", like you seem to do now. I'm not claiming I can read your mind, but that's what you come off as to me, and evidently to lots of other members.

I guess my point is, if you disagree with people's thoughts, ignore them. There really is nothing easier than doing nothing.

If you're looking for people's honest opinions of the map, why do you start bashing them when they give it? You don't have to agree with the suggestions, but you shouldn't mock people just for giving them. No one's FORCING you to change the map.

I for one, agree with Trapt's view on lighting. Good lighting is colourful and spotty, yet not overdone or with too stark contrasts.

The general feeling I get from those screenshots is undetail-ness. The walls are too flat and boring.
The environment just looks open and too empty, which gives the whole thing a Gold-Source feel. The sand textures look really plastic and unnatural, as does the blue generic-wall texture.
The map doesn't seem to be cubemapped, dunno if that's intentional or not.
The lighting is fairly boring at most places, I'd add some different-coloured point lights for some variation.

in WinXP runnning unbearably slow Post #197738
Recently my computer's been acting all strange - it takes forever for most apps to start and the boot time is extremely long.
From the moment I press the On button 'till I can start an application, there's about 10 minutes of waiting time.

I've run numerous viral and spyware scan using avast!, ad-aware and SpyBot, and they all show up clean.

I've checked what launches at boot, and there's nothing suspicious there. Also checked the services, nothing there either.

I've been meaning to reformat, but it feels kind of unecessary to do so until I get some new HDDs.
Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

in Limits in bsp size??????? Post #197658
Your best bet is to distribute the file in a .zip with a .res included. .Res files tells the server which file to download.

So say your name is kz_poop and you're using the textures hello.wad and bye.wad, that are both in the counter-strike/cstrike directory, your .res file would be named kz_poop.res look like this:

maps/kz_poop.res
hello.wad
bye.wad
Note that the .res file reads files with the mod directory as root, like everything originates from cstrike. So a sound would mean:
sounds/kz_poop/sound.wav

The .res file is placed in the maps directory.

in Help with hlcc Post #197615
Deep6.wad is probably in the wrong directory. It should be in half-life/[mod]/ , not sure if it matters, but try moving it.
If all else fails, add -nowadtextures to the CSG Compile line.

The icky shows up when you're teleported out of Kleiner's lab, it appears for a few seconds in the dark water. Creepy scene, mind you.

There's the Strider-buster in HL2: Ep1 but I'd love to see some new weaponry - Valve are really skimpy with new content.

Stop using "pro life" or "pro choice", it's bullshit. Just say "for abortion" or "against abortion", that's what it's about.

I'm all for abortion as I believe no one should be forced to have kids. As long as adoption isn't working properly, abortion should definitely be around.
