With either type of gun, you can still lose an eye by it.

I've been working in the ER long enough to know that without protective goggles, they can maim.

I don't understand why people change avatars so frequently. The whole point is to have it connected to the member's identity so people can easily figure out who's posting what.

I have never changed my avatar, and I never will. That little devil just represents me. I made it out of clay, and I am proud of it.

Load up Steam with -beta sdk.
Follow trapt's advice. It's a temporary work-around before Valve fixes the problem.

Valve is concentrating so hard on making the beta work right that they've sacrificed the standard release version of Hammer.

Think twice before you fire up Steam. I just got the CS:S update with the new map de_nuke. It made the CS:S engine unstable (crashed twice on me), and it rendered Hammer unusable. No one has found a solution yet.

Be forewarned.

I talked to my neighbor, who works for Activision. He said that Hammer is one of the most stable level editor in the industry. It's very robust, and it's very well supported.

I am extremely thankful that Valve puts it out for free with the game. None of us would be here right now if Hammer is buggy or difficult to use.

The new improvements look good. I have another suggestion to spruce up the tunnel.

What about adding a door on the side of the tunnel? The door doesn't open and doesn't lead to anywhere, but it'll break up the length of the tunnel nicely. Valve uses this sort of archtecture to break up a large space in many of the official maps.

I would love to watch a well-teamed clan play my cs map de_justice. I spent so much time planning out how team work and strategy can do wonders in this map, but those dumb bots can never do something that interesting.

I even went to a local cyber cafe, but unfortunately, they don't have a functional cs:s server (they only have one for cs 1.6).

Automatic Shotgun FOR THE WIN!
I don't consider the automatic shotgun a weak weapon. It's extremely deadly in close quarters (i.e. cs_office).

Now, try killing just using the knife. That would be the ultimate 1337 player.

I like team work too, but most of the online players are too dumb or lack the motivation for such collaborative effort. So I just end up as the lone ranger most of the times.

I am not discouraging any dominating players to play. In fact, I think we need 1337 players to make the game interesting. Worldcraft dude, we need more people like you to play.

Killing n00bs gets old after a while. I shot this one guy who just stood there as I unloaded my gun on him. He barely turned around by the time he's dead. No challenge at all.

Half Life: Raising the Bar
A "BOOM HEADSHOT" shirt
"Raising the Bar" was what I got from my wife last Christmas.

She made me a "got pwnd" shirt for my birthday. :)

She bought me FarCry for one year, and Radeon 9800 Pro a few years ago for my birthday.

I am really spoiled. I can't even think of what I need/want anymore.

But now comes the hard part...I need to think of something to give HER.

I am speaking for myself, but I do believe that being a mapper automatically qualifies one as a geek/nerd.

However, a geek can be multi-faceted as well. I play lots of games, and I enjoy building my computer from scratch, but there are also many other sides of me.

I am an avid bodybuilder. In fact, I tried so hard to reach my goal at bench-pressing twice my body weight that I injured my right shoulder. So I am off for two weeks for it to recover. I typically go to the gym every other day for the past fifteen years.

I love a good movies. I saw "Goblet of Fire" yesterday and "Pride and Prejudice" tonight. I am a cinephile.

I am learning to play the guitar, and I am a jazz fanatic.

I had no idea, but there are people who devote their lives to hand-tuning the .nav files for CS:S. There are entire communities out there just for this purpose, similar to TWHL and the SnarkPit for mapping.

I never thought there are hobbists who have such a specialized interest. In fact, some of them volunteer to tune my .nav file for my custom map.

Even though I enjoy all sorts of cuisines, there's nothing more satisfying than a good Chinese meal.

That's not saying I don't like other types of foods. I love Italian food, and that Mexican burrito asada is just to die for. Korean barbeque and noodles always rank high on the list (with some hot kimchee), and Japanese food is welcome at all times.

But good ol' Chinese cooking is King for me.

But isn't it ironic that there are many professional gamers in China who play games for a living? they typically make ten times the salary of a government worker. And I thought the U.S. government is stupid. I can't believe this story was real. It's an excerpt (short) from an article in the Los Angeles Times:
By Ching-Ching Ni
Times Staff Writer

November 4, 2005

BEIJING ? Fed up with what it sees as the corrupting influence of computer games on youth, the Chinese government plans to introduce to the online world a new cast of characters based on old-fashioned Communist values.

Instead of heavily armed superheroes licensed to kill, the new game will highlight the likes of a model Communist soldier famous for helping other people. To advance in this game, players won't gun down their enemies. They'll mend socks, lots of them, and gain points by getting appreciation letters for doing good deeds such as helping old ladies home in a rainstorm and stopping people from spitting on the sidewalk.

The prize is a signed virtual copy of Mao Tse-tung's Little Red Book.
Why not make a game to have the player wash dishes all day? I'd rather shove a pineapple up my nostril than play this game.

You can't expect someone to lose his skin (like a fast zombie) in just a few hours or to grow so much extra meat (like a poisinous zombie) in just a few hours.
When was the last time you witnessed a zombie transformation? I went through medical school, but I have never studied such subject. You can't use biological comparison, because the whole process is unnatural, by definition.

Only the people at Valve know the truth.

What doesn't make sense, plotwise, is how fast Ravenholm would've been abandoned once you get there.
but Ravenholm wasn't abandoned. All the zombies in Ravenholm were once citizens or rebel fighters. They were transformed by the headcrabs into zombies.

so the story does make sense, and the timing of the plot works fine.

The town you're overlooking is Ravenholm. This has been mentioned in interviews but can also be noticed by the church that can be seen in the distance.
That actually makes sense. I think the "Big Gun" inside the church is actually firing headcrab cannisters. That's why when Gordon gets to Ravenholm eventually, the town has been turned into a zombie infested world.

The point of Lost Coast is to demonstrate HDR, and nothing more.
