What's not dangerous about a proton with 3.5 trillion elections strapped to it? I'd trust these scientists before I trust those biologists harvesting bacteria that will consume every living thing on the planet. Bring on the pretty explosion! Inspired by the popular Nintendo DS game "Brain Age", one of the first things you do in the game is form a picture by connecting dots with straight lines.

That's what you will do using this image. Connect he dots together any which way to form an image. You must only use straight lines.

Probably. Vis time will get a boost, this is a final compile thing anyway. Even on a optimized map, it might drop the count in some areas but not others. It's always variable anyway.

Try it, and POAST SCREENSHITS!

EDIT: also, lose the hint brushes if you do the above method. they do nothing.

lower the bsp node size to 128 (default 1024) and compile with full vis. You're compile time will be upped, but your map's organization will be tighter.

that's how I keep them down.

Kinda like this.
User posted image
the blue tinted areas are the nodes being drawn. This does not slice up your polies into tiles either. infact, they automatically dice up every 240 units unless the texture applied is scaled differently.

This greatly helps in those spots where there's a door or something that allows a small view into a new area. This is all noticeable if you use r_speeds and wireframe to check your map.

Ok... Here's the list of shit that went wrong.

? Camera takes a while to find the player so the view is messed up for a few seconds.
? Any gun with bullets DOES NOT WORK since their projection is camera based.
? Tau Cannon also doesn't work.
? Lack of shadow under player makes jumping difficult.
? Mouse-look is balls.
? If the camera pans too far left or right of the stage, the isometry looks weird.

The camera thing can be fixed, that's been proven in Flatlife. Which this might be an interesting new element to Flatlife if this is to go any further.

The trick is to pull the camera waaaaaaay back by the entire width of the workable area or so. Using the cvar default_fov I zoomed in. Originally its 90 but I set it to as low as it can go which is 10. That flattens the perspective and creates the isometry.

There are some pluses. With a proper camera setup, the isometry will never be messed up. The only way to do that is to code it in like the Top-down mode in Flatlife. If that's the case, an entire map could be made that is not restricted to a small corner.

I typed +strafe in the console and used the move keys to move around in only 8 directions. It was cool but I couldn't mouselook at the same time. Which I believe the mouselook version player model was reversed for some strange reason.

Experiment Failed. Farewell.

I think Shane sucked Tim's c*ck or something. Because shane's career seems kinda short to have so many prestigious people work on 9.

Wiki Page
Tim Burton's name on the title gave the movie its initial interest.

Also, Ponyo... yes. Has anyone seen it? I'm with Tito on this one. Is it good?

My story development professor said District 9 was really good. I think that means its awesome or something. ^.^

EDIT: Heh, almost forgot. I went to see 9 in the theater. I have to say its not the prettiest animation, it breaks no new ground as far as that goes, but it DOES have an amazing and deep storyline that is perfect in every way down to the last detail. Some people have said that the movie sucked, others are fanatic about it. The level of story telling trumps everything I have ever seen, and the reason Tim Burton produced it was because he is a visionary. The story is definitely its strongest element. The animation is spot on, and visuals form very Tim Burton-esque compositions. Its not as pretty as Kung Fu Panda or Wall?E but the imagery is well enough to show incredible mood and setting. The action sequences are exquisitely designed as well, especially given the nightmarish world the story takes place. Some of the imagery is a bit unsettling even. This movie is not a cuddly animation for children, its a mature tale with some pretty hardcore stuff happening.

(TL;DR) See 9, I fucking recommend it. Its metal.

in Skybox: Hollow or Perfection? Post #273104
Don't put a box around your map.
I've done this a lot on maps like Poison Garden, R'Dia, and Alpestrine. Maps that do require a box to be put around it requires a little more attention. Like instead of Sky, use Bevel. Encasing a map tightly with bevel blocks can be beneficial. I.E. The complex floor geometry of Alpestrine caused many many many tiny and unfixable leaks. At a certain point, there is a block of bevel that is under all of that to patch up any sort of problems.

On R'Dia, the ceiling is a dome-like cone. The geometry wouldn't hold the map, so all outside edges were manually nulled and the sky is a combination of bevel and sky faces.

On poison garden, the entire map is shelled inside null brushes. Plain and simple, and when exploring it with noclip, I could spot most of the leaks since they jutted out from the rest of the map.

If a brush is completely encased with other brushes, most of it will go away in the compile except the tiny little part that plugs the hole. It's not excessive at all and doesn't harm the r_speeds. In fact it may help them.

+2 Cents

Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno)

In 1944 fascist Spain, a girl, fascinated with fairy-tales, is sent along with her pregnant mother to live with her new stepfather, a ruthless captain of the Spanish army. During the night, she meets a fairy who takes her to an old faun in the center of the labyrinth. He tells her she's a princess, but must prove her royalty by surviving three gruesome tasks. If she fails, she will never prove herself to be the the true princess and will never see her real father, the king, again.

Its in Spanish with subtitles. Its hard-fuckin-core and is a movie I enjoy every time.

Watchmen is the only movie since... I think Spaceballs... I would gladly see again. I'm not the type to watch movies multiple times, not by choice at least.
