Ive been trying to start up my steam server, but It is hosting it on lan when I set sv_lan to 0 and set it to host on the web. I know that the fact I use a router is the problem, but I dont know how to configure it to work properly. Do you have to open certain ports or what?

I gave a person my new map, coastrace, and when they hosted it online, the dune buggys I had placed in it were gone. They were there when I attempted to host the game locally, so what is up?

I was wondering how you can create a gravel path like in highway 17 or route kanal. They are completely flat in those levels, so I take it you dont have to create then texture a brush to do it. Am I wrong?
PS Ive already tried applying the tex as a decal, the one im using is overlays/gravelpath0a

Well, I have begun work on my new racing map for HL2 and I have come across a few issues. For one, the map is on fullbright because it says there are no lights, but there are and there are no leaks. Also, when I go to complile it says somthing about missing nature/coastline materials for the texture BLENDSANDGRASS0008A. It is the same texture used in a few maps on steam servers like hl2_rally and recing.

it is possible, and easy at that. if you have your console enabled, host a game (LAN, Internet, whatever), go into your console and type
sv_monsters 1. Im NOT POSITIVE that is what you type, but it is something along those lines. Here, let me check really quick.

is it possible to set a trigger_once to be inactive, but then activated once something happens? What im trying to do is make it so that you can walk through a trigger_once and nothing happens, but you press a button and when you go back through the trigger, it triggers something.

Listen, I have great grammar and writing skills, I just dont implement it into my posts because I didn't think that mattered, but now its obvious that this place is not only a place for all to learn about HL mapping and HL mod mapping, but a place to exhibit fine grammar and writing abilities.
G_KID, I don't know why you seem to hate me and offer no help in a place designed for exactly the opposite of what you give, but I'd sure like to know. I can understand constructive critisism, but your earlier post was nothing but a vast collection of all the things that you could think of that had to do with bashing me into the ground. If this makes you happy (which i'm sure it does to a person like yourself) i've given up on the idea. I hadn't planned on having someone else do it for me, and if I did, then I'd be a worthless piece of shit, but its obvious that I'm not a piece of shit or else I wouldn't be posting on a website, I'd be in my backyard covered in flies. Also, do you have dyslexia or something? I said clearly in my previous post that the point was NOT to create the greatest mod on the planet, the point was to learn. I have admitted it numerous times that I am new to mapping and I don't try to act like I'm good. My worst fear is to be arrogant and go around bashing people into the ground. I'll admit you are a good mapper and have great knowledge of it, but that still doesn't give you any right to go around making newbies feel like shit. If I knew as much as you about mapping, I'd actually help people. You know, make yourself useful, if you've ever heard of such a thing. I'm sure your more than capable of being insightful, like Captain P, but I suppose your arrogance prevents you from doing so.
