When I download a mod and place it into my halflife folder and than run hl and click custom game and refresh list the mod doesnt show up. I kinda forgot but isnt their something else your supposed to do to get the mod to show up or what?

No re-read what i sayed. Im not asking anything, im saying I found out something helpful. Somethimes after making a track_train, you are not able to get a path_corner at the direct center of the train because of the graph not allowing it to but you can change the size of the path_corner.

Some times when creating a func_train after making it and than making the path_corner you will find that the path_corner's center wont allign up with the center of the train. I found out that you can simply click on the path_corner and than click on a corner square of the 8 white squares that pop up around it and drag the corner square to change the size of it to allign perfectly with the center of the train. -Never new you could do that...

Yes any kind of turret. As long as its stationary and shoots something i dont care. Actualy it doesnt even have to shoot, be creative. Ive started on mine yesterday... man im running into a lotta problems with my turret because it is very complex and parts become fullbright, hopefully i can fix it.

-well i fixed the problem so maybe ill finish it afterall:)

oh well i was to lazy to finsih but whenever i get around to it il finish it and let you guys see meh turret n e wayzzz.

people will vote and you can make it controlable or to shoot at you, it doesnt matter just as long as it is a turret. I chose to make one that shoots at the player...

-Make a map that has a turret in it. Main focus is on the turret itself, but a theme may be included to enhance the turret. Today is 6/26 so give ourselves 30 days to complete the map, so compo entries should be done and in the map vault 7/26... Anyone interested? and anyother ideas toward the compo-This compo wont mean anything if no one else is interested in the idea...

sort of, i didnt submit maps until a while of being here but i helped out in the forums since i joined. Unlike most people, I didnt want to submit all of my first maps and besides that they were usually just for single player to impress my self anyway....Thow, im working on a single player mod for hl1 right now thow it should take a while until it is done. Another reason im off and on with mapping is because my computers i usually have hardly have the capability to play hl1 and are laggy when mapping detailed maps... My single player mod will definetly be a great contribution to this website:) so dont miss it when i finalllllly finish the dang thing.

Im using hammer 3.4's compile tools because they usually work fine for me but now im getting an error. When I compile it freezes and I click X on the compile window and it exits out of hammer. I want to use zoners compile tools but am not sure how to correctly use them because they do not work. What ive done so far is download zhlt and place the hlbsp, hlrad, hlcsg, hlvis into the hammereditor/tools folder. Than in hammer's build programs I switched the 4 executables. Than I press f9 to test the map but it doesnt compile newly mapped things just what I already had compiled before it stopped working. Was this all I needed to do to install them or is there more?

you can do a lot with a turret, and i wouldnt make one that the player uses but one that shoots at you and it would be very unique. Its really not too broad of a theme but there definetly is a lot you could do with it ie. custom sounds, way the turret pops up, what triggers it etc. Basicaly just make a turret and put it into a map. And try to make it look kewlll.

Dude zombie like everything u sayed isnt true. theres not only one religeon in america theres a LOT. People can be raised succesfuly from one parent! Not all straight couples have straight children. The world doesnt need a lot more babies, population is growing fast. And what the hell are you talking about, many americans wear glasses and we like all have air conditioning. true thow catholic and other similar "bible" based religions are against homo sexuality all together. In the bible of mathew it says you will be kept away from the kingdom of god if you are homosexual.

And-marriage is not a civil right it is a holly sacrement and churches will not support something that is sayed to be wrong in the bible!

if the entrire floor was an entity, wouldnt the extra chargers when their suit is fully charged just fall through the ground. And have a real ground under the entire map to catch them so they wouldnt keep falling through the void... just a dumb thought. Actualy i dont even know if that would work at all...

The compo for "map a death_match map" was a great idea because it produced some new good dm maps..

{crap, I just read that new compos wont come up until twhl3, wonder when thatl be..}

whered that boy get off to we aint got no good maps uh poppin up...
Most maps that peolpe make to put on this website dont have lots of effort shown to making them. So I gots meez an ideaz. What if somewhat like a competition, twhl made a new thing. Basically a section like the competition one except that no one would win but the section would be based on "make a really good map" that would show most of the twhl's member's skills in mapping. And theme wise possibly have say like 5 themes to chose from which would probably attract a big croud of entries and a bunch of "well developed" "fun to play, not dissapointing" maps. And run it for hl1 and 2. ... just an idea. And it doesnt seem like any new coding would be neccesary to make this "i think"

Ive been mapping for only hl1 for a long time but i want to start mapping for hl2. The computer that i currently own becomes laggy while mapping for hl1 and playing it and the graphics arent realy that good so I have saved up enough money to buy my own computer but dont have a clue where to start. All I can say is, I want a computer capable of mapping for "hl2" and hl1 without becoming laggy, good graphics, no laggy game play, a router to get net conection from my parents comp at home, and all i need is the "comp"well and router. I already have plenty of keyboards and mouses and screens and stuff. Please help me out in finding a good computer but not too expensive! Also i was wondering if by choosing to start mapping for hl2, Can I make much more complex maps for example, an entire house with all accesories in every room? or is it not that greater than hl1... btw i have 1000 dollars to spend but really would like to spend "as little as possible" like 400-600 range if possible" thanks a lot. :biggrin:

Ok. I made half of a jet in milkshape 3d. The only thing left to do is duplicate it, mirror it, and weld the verticies together. Whenever I mirror it, It works but the new side of the jet is far away from the originaly created one. So, I have to "move" the newside to the old one. In doing so, it does not perfectly match up with the old side so I can not weld the verticies. My original side is somewhat to the right of the z axis so when i mirror it, it mirrors somewhat to the left side of the z axis. If the original side was up against the z axis "from the top view" than when i mirrored it, it should be perfectly alligned. How do i get my original side of the moddel to align with the z axis?

ok , i followed a tutorial and made half of a jet. Now i just have to duplicate it and mirror it. When i mirror it, it does not directly attach to my first created side but ends up far away. This is because my jet is not right up against the z axis. How do i get the model's side to allign with the z axis ? by dragging it myself it wont allign perfectly...
