I'm sorry but I have too agree. CT has, on multiple occasions attempted to get the community busy and more often than not, nobody has given a fuck.

I remember getting excited about the TWHL themed mapping contest but stopped working on it when I realised nobody else was. :(

I changed my vote to MISSION MC POKER just because of this.
Pity you can't since SHIT-POKER isn't in the list of nominees. Too bad.

That is, MCPOKER is too bad.

Well, thanks to your support and the support of our followers elsewhere on the internet, The Core is in the top 100 and one of the three nominees for best upcoming Half-Life mod of 2012.

Once again, we would really appreciate it if you could check out the top 100 page here and vote for the core. :D

Much love.

Well, definitely use a program to render the footage into a compressed file firts. I use sony's movie studio. It's prettty good and offers everything I need and you can get it for around the price of a videogame. It lets you choose what resolution to render at so you can throw in any image or video file you like. :D

Incidentally, that 6 minute video took 2 hours to upload. I live in a field.

What scale are those textures set to? They look really low quality like you've set them to 1.00 as you would with GoldSource.

I've checked out a few user reviews on metacritic (Which I now find far more reliable than official reviews)

There are currently 105 positive reviews and 32 negative which is a nice gap in my eyes. What puzzles me is a lot of the negative user reviews, and even points made in the official reviews, complain about how they've stripped out a few of the systems seen in Far Cry 2... What exactly are they missing about it. The complete lack of wildlife other than zebras? The absence of ANY friendly AI? The buddy system? FUCKING MALARIA!?

These were all utterly shite features! Why would you ever want anything to do with them ever again?

Regardless, I will be getting Far Cry 3 (for Christmas now, I'm poor). If it holds on to some of Far Cry 2's good features and adds more wildlife, RPG elements and weapon customisation, I say that is a very, VERY good thing.

(I'm gonna customise me a sniper rifle. :badass: )

In other news, BF3 Aftermath was unlocked yesterday. Not tried it out yet but I've heard good things. :)

in HL1 zombie models question. Post #311322
Although, I imagine, If I wanted a total of, lets say, 10 different zombies, just skins, with the same attributes healthwise and such, would it not just be a case of copying, pasting and renaming?
To have 10 different skins for the zombie model you would need to decompile the model, create 10 sets of new textures, edit the models .qc file (the code that strings everything together when compiled) to include all the new textures in skingroups, and then recompile the model.

The thing is, you still need a way to select those skins in Hammer for them to work in the game and that is where you need coding. However, the Spirit of Half-Life engine allows you to choose skins or even models for each npc in the game so I would recommend using that if you can.

in HL1 zombie models question. Post #311314
Nope, Soup Miner is correct. The additional files are animation groups except zombiet.mdl which is the textures. Sub models like heads and weapons are contained in the primary file, zombie.mdl.

If you want to use different zombies models or skins in your mod the you will need custom models and some coding (unless you're using Spirit)

Be thankful you're not a console gamer.

New UK releases on PC tend to stay around £24.99 - £29.99 but on consoles they're a minimum of £34.99 and can be as much as £49.99!

Fuck consoles I say.

While I admit I got some enjoyment out of it, I couldn't get immersed because of how clunky everything feels in the Arma 2 engine. Doors which work when they feel like it, laggy zombies running through walls and the worse movement I've ever experienced in a player avatar.

There was one moment when I was walking along the coast and I spied a police car coming down the road, followed by another blue car. I hit the dirt and didn't move. They stopped not far from me and as far as I can tell they were looting a body. Then they headed off back the way they came. I reckon the corpse was a friend they were communicating with over TS. Seemed kinda cool, saving his gear for him and everything and I can only assume that they had some kind of base further down the road.

Then I stood up and ran a few feet before a shot ripped though my back and out of my chest. Fell to the floor unconscious, bleeding out at a rapid rate, then someone ran over and put a revolver to my head.

@Urby: thats where the ticket system comes in, id say we do it the same way as last year, its just more games and other people are better at some games so they could catch up in kills if say potatis owns everyone in half-life.
Yes, but it doesn't seem fair to people who own fewer games. Say for example it came down to Half-Life, TF2 and CS:GO.

I could get 100 kills in Half-Life and be the overall winner, then when everyone switches to TF2 and then CS:GO their tickets keep climbing and I stay at 100...

Also, is Slenderman scary now? Fair enough...
