Not a single hispanic? :(

Anyway, I repeat: People with grave mental disorders have no control over their actions. They shouldn't be punished for something they couldn't prevent.

Pedophiles, for the most part, physically and/or mentally harm their victims (lovers?), forcing themselves on them against their wills. That's what makes it wrong - unlike homosexuality.

Also, being religious is fine by me as long as you don't try to impose your religion on others (Cough, gaybashing christians). Seriously, an argument like "You're all going to hell cause you're gay!" really doesn't matter if you believe that hell is a load of bullshit.

I'm actually agreeing to that "Homosexuality isn't natural". It isn't, if you look at it from a realistic re-productive perspective. But why should we bother with it? I believe the right to free will and choice stands above trying to make the whole world conform with some non-existant norm. IE, leave gays alone to their business and don't try to cure people who don't want to be cured.

Jahzel returns with plausible theories, making all of our hearts rejoice! I'm agreeing to some degree.

As for the gay-debate, I believe Seventh made a valid point..;
Maybe homosexuality will die out in thousands of years through natural selection, or maybe it's something that is based on something so fundamental that it can't. Who cares? We're talking about today, not 10 000 years. Maybe we'll all have gills by then. It's not really that relevant.
What "causes" homosexuality really doesn't matter - it's a widespread phenomenom that should be accepted, not removed.

Oh no, nickelplate found his way to TWHL :o .
Anyway, sure, homosexuality doesn't conform with nature in the sense that homosexuals can't reproduce - but since when does anything humans do conform with nature? We're constantly sucking earth dry of it's resources, polluting it's seas and it's air.
Claiming homosexuality is bad because it's "unnatural" is a fairly weak argument - look at infertile couples, or people who actually have sex for fun - do you call them unnatural, and claim it's a mental disorder?

Last time I checked, around 10% of every child born is homosexual. I might be off, school taught me this (Ugh) .

If you're so concerned with HIV, nickelplate, wear a condom. Let others do whatever (and eachother) they want.

And yeah, I'm with Satchmo. Everyone who judges a person based from his or hers sexual preference should be considered as bad as a racist.

What are you on about?
The Egyptian civilization was for hundreds of years the mightiest in the world - I'm not too well read up about the southern part of Africa but there probably were major civilzations there too.

Great civilizations have risen and fallen, throwing countries that once were hugely advanced back into barbarism (dark ages, anyone? The fall of rome?)
The slave-trading europeans (and the original invaders of America) quite clearly saw blacks and asians as inferior, and even non-human and assumed they were meant to work for them. They blatantly ignored the fact that african tribes already had sophisticated languages, religions and cultures themselves, and banned the speaking of their own language.

I mean, racism is still widespread in all civlizations - just how civilized are we?

Anyway, we're all humans. Skin colour or minor physical differences don't change the mind, they merely reflect what environment the person grew up in.

in Dunce Americans Post #174141
The cultural development in Africa was impeded by the heavy colonisation during the 14th and 15th century, when millions were enslaved or killed. European countries didn't allow much cultural progress for the occupied people.

I'd say the development in the rest of the world, besides europe, wasn't going slower or worse in that sense - it was just going in a different direction, that favoured close-together tribes instead of fullblown civilizations - then the europeans came and fuckered it all up. Today much of Africa is still poor because the former occupying forces (France, Great Britain, mainly) sucked the land dry of it's resources and economical force.

Essentially, it's our fault.

Edit:
Isnt it true african americans have an extra muscle, and less brain power?
Highly individual. Maybe there're some minor racial traits and differences, but it's quite marginal.

I'm pretty sure everyone here knows who Al Gore and John Kerry is. I rooted for them both simply because Bush was worse, more so in the 2004 election than the 2000.

Let me clarify this: I don't hate the American people. I hate the choices the American government does and I'm worried that people are actually voting for Bush.

I'm not saying my government is the best in the world, and I'm sure there are a hell of a lot that could be done better (especially if the righties didn't have anything to say about it), but in my eyes they appear better than the US administration. That's my opinion, anyway.

Man, xyos, you have so much bullshit in your post it's hard to read.

First of all...
Gun control: Freedom must be absolute. No exceptions... Some laws though are there to protect. The patriot act does inhibit certain freedoms, but to protect the good.
Biggest contradiction EVER. What the hell do you think gun restrictions are there for? Of course they're there to protect the society itself! It's bloody proven, higher gun restrictions -> Less crime! The patriot act hardly protects the citizens of the US as much as it offers the government control over it's people.
Torture: We never torture, EVER!
Physical torture isn't the only torture. Mental torture can be as painful to endure, especially if you're put through it for years, without even being accused of something. There have been cases where the US military have physically tortured prisoners... Try Googling it.
The fact is we are the greatest country, strongest, and most advanced. Were almost perfect in every way. Of course your anger for us is understandable. You wish you were us. Too bad. You can dream though................
Ohmigosh the arrogance! Everyone's written like ten times in this thread that we don't want to live in america - I repeat: America offers me nothing.
The fact that you have the strongest military and one of the strongest economical powers in the world is irrelevant to whether or not one's jealous of you - the fact that the US govt. is run by jacktards plays a bigger role.
LOL, btw does any of your countries get immigrants? I mean is America so great that we actually have thousands sneaking in to get some of our greatness? Never heard of people flocking to Britain...........
Sweden accepts several thousands immigrants per year, alot more than our Scandinavian neighbours.

Also, never heard of people flocking to Britain? There're thousands of immigrants emigrating to britain every year - in fact this is the case with all industrial countries - america isn't uniqe with this in any way.

Also, about highschool education... there're quite a lot of spelling and/or grammer errors in your post (and mine too, most probably) - perhaps your education isn't as great as you claim, atleast the English bit?

Not true. Lots of completly peaceful people were taken by the US to Guantanimo Bay (spelling), imprisoned and tortured for three years. THREE YEARS OF TORTURE, Juse because they had a certain faith.
That's what I was trying to say :( Americans seem to have trouble acknowledging this as pure fascism.

No. I would guess your percentages would rise directly with the size of your country. Too many dynamics to accurately predict, but that would be my guess.
Nonsense. So people get more... violent if there are more people living in the country?
The deaths per citizen is still accurate.

In the UK, 529 people were murdered in 2000. That's 0.008% per 1000 citizens.

In Australia, 303 people were murdered. That's 0.015% per 1000 citizens.

Both are significantly lower than the US's numbers, and they both have stricter regulations.

In china, 58 people of 1,313,973,713 were murdered - this is obviously not true, the chinamen are lying. Still if it were...

Rowleybob: I'm using current population numbers from the CIA, on all countries. The results should be fairly precise. A country's population doesn't increase much in 6 years.

The World Health Organization - a huge, corporate, american org. They're probably downing the numbers.

Anyway, the population in the US is 298,444,215, just to clarify. (Wtf, american citizens should know this : )

The murder rate per thousand citizens in the US is 0,0533 (0,05%) in the US, 0,0088(0,008%) in Sweden. Quite a large jump.

RowleyBob, there was 16590 deaths caused by homicide and injury purposely inflicted by other in the US, year 2000.
