"Connection timed out" generally means your computer got tired of waiting for a reply. But there are many possible reasons for a reply not to arrive. I'd ask in the minecraft forums instead (if there are any), they'll probably know more.

Bar? Perhaps you could place a visible cable from the button to a box and from that box to the generator. Or, place some sort of sign or symbol next to the button and next to the generator. Or both, for dull players.

Zeeba you're amazing, I actually laughed out loud. I take it you didn't read the manual, but most screens display a box with optimal resolution and refresh rate the first few times you turn it on, I'm surprised you didn't see that either.

Glad you got it fixed at least. You're in for a world of new experiences now.

in how to made a random teleporter ? (help) Post #291119
What's the path_track for?

More detail. You have a trigger_teleport, let's assume its name is teleport_from_here. Suppose you have 3 destinations, represented as 3 different info_teleport_destination. Give each a unique name, let's suppose you call them destination1, destination2 and destination3.

Now, for each of these teleport destinations you need a trigger_changetarget. Give each trigger_changetarget a name (i.e set_destination1, set_destination2 and set_destination3) and a "new target" value of destination1, destination2 and destination3, respectively. Its purpose is to redirect teleport_from_here to a new destination, so all of them have a "target" value of teleport_from_here. Whenever you fire one of these trigger_changetargets, the trigger_teleport will change its destination to the name you set for "new target".

Finally, make a multimanager fire these changetargets individually at different times, effectively making a random choice on which destination it will send you to.

I can make an example map if you want.

I'm not sure I understand what you said. I can explain in further detail what I said, though.

For each separate info_teleport_destination you add a trigger_changetarget that redirects the trigger_teleport to it. Then make a looping multimanager fire all those changetargets at different times each.

Do you mean a teleporter that can take you to a random destination out of a previously defined set?

It's simple. Have a looping multimanager fire trigger_changetargets that redirect the teleport destination.

I have no idea why this would happen. I mean, whenever my textures look bad, it's my fault. If you already tried redrawing mip maps, then I wouldn't know what to suggest. So yeah this is a useless post.

in Forgotten RTS Post #291105
It's happened to me before that I remembered playing a game from a time before time, and turning the internet upside down yielded nothing. Then YEARS later, looking for something else, casually finding it on an abandonware site I had already searched. There still are some things that the internet hasn't caught up on.

Along with my very first computer, acquired in 1998/9, came some cd with over a hundred shareware/demo games. Most of them were crap but some of them were pretty good. One such demo was Wolfenstein 3D: Spear of Destiny, which I remembered from nearly a decade earlier at my uncle's computer. Only then I could link the game to a name. It took me 4 years to get my hands on a full version.

Then there was a short demo of a Doom RPG mod, named Strife. Interesting to say the least. I searched every dusty corner of the internet, and as late as 2006 there was no mention of it anywhere. Then I casually found it in an abandonware site in 2008.

Same with some flight simulator by Sierra, named Silent Thunder. As of 2008-9 (last time I looked) there was no mention of it anywhere on the internet.

One funny concept I found on a particular game was "PBEM: Play By E-Mail". You didn't need to play online to play with a friend - you emailed them the save file.

I think I still have that disc kicking around.

Yeah it only works in CS. They specifically created func_vehicle as a steered variation of func_tracktrain, but it was buggy as hell anyway. Hence there was a driveable APC in early versions of cs_siege that was removed in later builds.

Yeah looking up cracks or serial numbers on google can get this kind of shit coming your way. There are plenty of other ways anyway, but this is an easy one.

Then again, you can get them out of nowhere. Last virus/malware I got, just popped up by itself as I hadn't visited any new or suspicious sites. And nobody else uses my computer.
