Oh, my mistake. RFC 1918 reads:
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) has reserved the following three blocks of the IP address space for private internets:

     10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
     172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)
Mr. Fist was, and is, entirely correct.

I don't get it. He gave you an IP and port ; no ambiguity.
Hmm, always tought that these ranges are internal:
172.* 10.* 192.168.*
I think you're thinking of 127.x.x.x, and I think that's even more special than 192.168.x.x and 10.x.x.x.

I'm going to write it into TWHL3, but have it disabled. That way, if we have spam problems in the future, we can react quickly, rather than having to suffer for a fortnight while I write the appropriate stuff on-demand :).

It does discourage people a little, or at least slow them down.

Typing "cl_showfps 1" into the console (press ` to get that up ? it's just above Tab) will bring up a little gauge of your framerate at the top-right of the screen. Run around a bit in HL2, get in some fights, and see what framerates you get then.

You might need to tick "enable developer console" in the Advanced section of the Controls tab in Options.

Yeah, you don't have a choice of resolution on a TFT.

Strange that HL2 runs so much better, though. If the stress test is available in HL2, try it. Could be some strange mod issue.

I would imagine that Source is ignoring most of the "High" settings, where they're not supported by your hardware. I guess some of the settings which do accept "High" on your laptop are used much more in CS:S than HL2.

Are you sure you have everything on low settings? What about anti-aliasing and antriscopic filtering (AA and AF)? What resolution are you using for each game?

Well, what is on there? A system drive certainly needs a fair amount of free space, and a swapfile-holding partition does too. Not all, though. I have an 8GiB partition with 180kiB free, and it's not a problem at all, because I only have one massive file on it. If you have, like me, a partition for documents and little stuff alone (i.e. no programs which have lots of big temporary files, etc.), you could cheerfully fill it without any performance problems.
