It all comes down to personal preference. Those who like Firefox, use it. Those who like Opera, use it. Those who like internet explorer, learn to like Opera or Firefox.
Saying "Opera has better features than firefox" is pretty lame though, since you can get plugins for whatever you need. Besides, "better" is also a personal preference.

If I would want to chat, e-mail and look up taiwanese recipes of death, I could just do that with some simple firefox plugins. Firefox's alot better than Opera because of it's customizability. I can get it to do whatever I want with the proper plugins - my favorite and mostly-used plugin now being Stumble-Upon. Opera's a great browser though, second on my list.

Uh, MSpaint's jpg compression is actually quite good. A 1600x1200 photo turns up 177 kb, compared to a 60-quality Photosohp Jpeg which's 261 kb. The quality is horrifying, but that's a different matter
