:heart: im having a prolem with my map.when i create an 8 sided arch and compile it , i saw that in between the edges of the 8 sided arch there is a small gap. HOW DO I FIX IT????should i make it into a func_wall?

extra notes: there is no leak.

I was thinking of a map speccially made for mappers. the map will be composed of lots of example maps!! but its not just a single map that i was talking about. im talking about many! the maps will be arranged according to type or anything (ex. func,env,etc.). we will gather all 9or maybe some of the ex. maps from tha map vault with the permission of the authors. also the creators of the ex. maps can also contribute in making of the maps.there will be an in-game tutorial (thanks to CaptainP for the idea). to teach mappers while they are having fun

Welcome to my Fail Mini-Contest!
i know that all of you likes (i mean loves to ) put trucks of fail in the forums. well this forum will be full of it! here you will be making your own pictures oftruck of fail. here are the rules:

I posted thies thread up so we can share some mapping ideas. So bored because you have no idea of what theme will your next map be.
I will start:

Mutiplayer
Theme: Space Station, vertical map
Weapons: Crowbar, pistol, 357, AR, Shotgun, and a Crossbow
Size: fairly large
Features:Has a little bit of destuction

:) I am planning to make a mod-combining two very famous games known around the world. Half-life 1:one of the best video games ever made; and HALO:the best sci-fi first person shooter.The mod will be called HALO-LIFE.
So about me. Im quite a mapper with good experience. i can make a map in... um maybe two weeks, but in full detail with custom sounds an textures..... maybe a month. Below are the features for my mod.
The following will be the features of Halo-Life:

1. its a hl game with halo-type maps
2. weapons will be limited to 2 wepons only
3. includes weapon dropping (like in cs)
4. the HECU will be the UNSC
5. Some of the Xen alliens will be the covenant
6. Some of it will be the flood
7. New weapons
8. lots of cutscenes
9. New menu art and layout
10. Will have a website
11. Will be FAMOUS!!!

so those mappers who want to join me but does not know halo google spark edit. its like BSP viewer but for halo so you can see the maps in halo.

the requirments are

1. 3 Co-mappers
2. 1 webmaster
3. 3 modelers
4. 3 coders
5. Lots of people that knows halo: combat evovled
6. New FGD's and SDK

Criteria

1. knows halo
2. has a good idea abou my mod
3. does complete tasks

when o play my map. it doesnt load and a dialog box appears: ED_alloc:full. ithought that my map is too big (1 mb) so i deleted other maps but still the map does not load HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP ME!!!!!! :cry:

Topic: Leaks

i know you all have leaks in your map. and really want to know where to find it and to fix it. well this is my advice.

1. you can find it in-game. when you compile it an extra file will appear. it is mapname.pts. its a pointfile. so you need it to test it in game on SP.
bring out the console and type "pointfile" without the quotes then there will be a series of points somwhere around your map then it will lead to the leak!

2.you can prevent to make a leak by putting sky brushes around your map. :sarcastic:

Bigger minds think bigger and better!!!
this is my first tip, the first of many. iIt is ok to do anything yes anything like using vertex manipulation. in vertex manipulation its fine to create invalid brushes in the editord not forget that you clip the invalid face. its also fine to hollow out and carve brushes as long as you ungroup all!!! the brushes that are automatically grouped because the compile programs might think that the grouped brushes is a single brush therefore treating it as an invalid brush.
