I agree with both Archie and Atom.

The new SteamPipe now reads through the "common" folder.
And yes, Mod's folder names can't have spaces (just underscores "_" or minuses "-" if you want to separate words).

For your better understanding, this is the liblist of a Mod I'm working on:

This is what an expert eye should see imho (like us), Archie.

But I've seen a lot of people that thought that CS:GO was made on a completely new engine. This for L4D2 too.

Also, on a side note: everyone knows that Valve likes to troll us. :P

Kachito, that effect is called Cel Shaded. :)

I have some RMFs with some Cel Shaded brushwork, it works. :3
Though is very "Wpoly consuming".

Yeah I know, in the second level, inside the yellow card door. :P
But, unfortunately, GS doesn't have this kind of stuff (SoHL probably), and creating a func_pushables and brush based balls is not recommended, I think. :P Also, I currently don't know how to make animated models. So, not gonna happen. :(

Yep, you're right. But what if there'd be some way to make it easier?
Like, some complicated algorithm that "reads" the face alignment in the world brush and give it the proper texture skewing?

It would be cool imho. If it's possible, of course.

Yeah I know that, Strider. But I would like to see its REAL potential. I'm just skeptic to call it "Source 2". Just look at the differences between HL2 and CS:GO, it's still Source, but with a lot of changes...

Why this should be Source 2? It seems just the same as Source 1 with in-editor rendering features. It's still Dota 2 afaik, hence Source 1. :/

I was thinking more of a unofficial plug to the minicompo, so peeps at GB could decide to join if they wanted, but that's neat to know they would possibly allow us to host/sponsor an official compo there someday? surprised - :o

@Alberto You still will have to fix the smoothing though on that model. It looks a bit odd.
It's just a simple render from kHED. It looks a lot different in-game. :)
khed does source stuff pretty simply, right?
Nope. kHED doesn't export a Source model nor materials. You could just make the model, then you need something like XSI to compile it.
forget about doing anything fancy with khed, at least from my experience.
Agreed. kHED actually have a limit on tri/polycount and vertices (something around 3000 tris and vertices max). And you can't add animations to a model. You need Milkshape 3D for that (or any other program). I recommend to use kHED just for GoldSource non-animated models (e.g.: static prop models). But it's a nice program to getting started, that's for sure.

Heyo!

I'm here to show you something I've made few days ago.

Probably some of you already played Rimrook's map Rat Hunt these days, like me.
And, well... I've completed it! And recorded a demo. So I decided to show the demo to Rimrook. And this is what he replied after watching it: "This is awesome! Please show everyone!".

Something bad is happened while recording the demo. Be sure to keep an eye on the HP/Life to know why.

So yeah. Here it is:

Want to model for HL1? There you go:

This nice little model editor work perfectly with Hammer, it automatically export models as Half-Life's MDL format, the grid can be set up the same as the Hammer one, and it's really easy to use (I use that program to make prop models for Archie and Urby for The Core). :)

This is a model I've made with just this program:

A Minecraft code is good enough I think. I'll ask the GB bosses. If it's good enough then if you want we could easily set up an official one.

And, I almost forgot, a compo must have at least 3 winners and 3 different prices (which the first one receives the best one, obviously). So if you have 2 other things that are less important than a Minecraft code, then it could be set up easily I think.

Also, setting up a compo that is for both Source and GoldSource engines requires a thread to be opened in a generic section (e.g.: Steam section). I can't just open a thread in the GoldSource section while Source is involved too, unfortunately. :/
TWHL'ers have had a head start. Maybe we should wait and have GB hold a seperate compo only to be fair.
I completely agree. People would get mad if just one of them knows that some of us have already started this on another site. I recommend to wait until the next compo commence.

As for an official GameBanana competition: Yes.
As for a random one made with a thread in the GoldSource section: No.

Basically, once an official competition/contest is set up, authorized admins and moderators only can write the contest rules, prices, and all the text with the information (like your first post, Rim).
It has to be professional, it has to be worthy enough (prizes) compared to the competition difficulty, it has to be a specific deadline, etc...

And, of course, this will take time for me to convince them to make a competition for a GoldSource game. They rather make competitions for today's games or anyway more recent ones.

Just tell me if you prefer an official compo, or a simple one set by me in the GoldSource section. You choice. :)

I opened my rats map in the sledge that I have, the previous to the current version, and it chugs a little in the 3D view
Strange. I've opened more complicated maps than the rats one you've made with Sledge, and didn't have any lag problem (quite the contrary, it lags more on Hammer for me). And you know that my PC is crap (AMD Sempron single core, 1 GB RAM, 256 MB AGP ATI VGA).

P.S.: Check your TWHL's inbox. :P

I've had to start all over again. I didn't like my first idea, it was too stupid and kinda nonsense.

So yeah, I'm a bit like CapT too (procrastinator).
Also, ideas starts going in my head few days before the deadline. So I don't think you'll be able to see a WiP of my map anytime soon (also because my head is currently full of fuck tbh...). :|
