HELLZ YEAYAH! I was going to time-lapse a map but a model will be much more confortable to do it in.

I'll model and texture the alien dude in a 3 or 4 minute lapse!

Still I need screen capture softwarez. :death:

Link or something would be nice, i know you guys have knowledge I don't and I got film to shoot today, no time to look around myself.

its not furry except for the haircut. and maybe a mustache or beard... but yeah its supremely more alien than furry. Tried to make up something with the flexible form of a human and a pinnacly natural design for a sentient being.

The charger's chrome effect isn't being applied yet so yes. I am very much aware of the assness of it.

oh, i was typing in "half life 2 health recharger"
What I modelled ended up looking nothing like that. Which is good. I thought mine had too much of a combine flare to it and its best not to infringe upon valve's mighty army of copyrights. Posting a screenshot likely tommorrow with the complete version. As well as that, I've worked on several smaller things that aren't on the list but needed to get done.

512 x 512 textures can be used by the engine without any sort of error except they get mipped to their first level which is half of the size, 256 x 256. each level halves the initial size. So for Goldsource, there is no higher resolution than 256 x 256 unless you use random texturing like a whore.

oh, true.

My laptop probably won't run it right. It doesn't like a lot of the fancy stuff like r_glow and some of the fancier pixel shaders. I can't recall what its graphics level is.

Won't be a problem for long, I just got a GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card for my monster comp, as well as 2 2gb ram cards.

Also, internet at home is coming soon. So i might jump on the bandwagon and do source. That and map for Portal. I have a buddy who wants me to Mod portal, but we'll see, i wouldn't know what to do with it.

Can a person earn a MotM award only once? The way it appears in the Profile it does. It should say what month it was for so if won twice, two can validly appear and the maps should be label with a similar trophy icon as well. Maybe a MotM maps along with the 'Recent Maps' and 'Top Maps' on the front page.

...or is this more towards TWHL3 stuff?

EDIT: I just looked through everything on this forum and the stuff posted on ModDB... Realized that most of it is crap. That or most of it is old stuff and the new stuff is all in progress. I either need to post videos or new images or something. I'm really not trying to spoil the demo... the suspense is crushing and I don't keep secrets very well. I guess I'll post only map screens, no enemies or vital details like that. I hope it still doesn't ruin things.

Also, someone post a screenshot of the health recharger from HL2, I may have subliminally recreated it for 6D but the Google sucks trying to find a screenshot of it. Just to compare...

Don't worry, 6D is formatted for both. No detail spared at this point. I can't test the title screen though, no steam for me and all that.

For the voice, either record yourself and mechanize it, or find one of the many vox things on the internet. Always check the googles, often. Make sure they have fresh water.

I ruled out Stargate because I usually wait for the DVDs to come out. Both SG-1 and Atlantis are good, but the movie coming out should be epic as hell to finish off 10 seasons of SG-1.

I like Family Guy. I just caught one of the new episodes last night. Good stuff.

As for recent movies. Decided to watch an old-ass-hell 3D animation Film called Aero Trooper. Awesome concept and world, but the whole animation seemed to be made of Maya's default graphics and the animation was stiff.

I'm liking this daily update thing.
Yeah, trying to keep up a good pace, as well as record as much as I can in the thread.

I shit a brick last night, max 7 crashed the same way max 8 and wouldn't start again. I restarted my laptop and tried again and it worked. I must be lucky to be so fortunate. It made me think that I need to get as much as possible done and over with incase max drop dead for good. o__O

Make a huuuuuge checklist of everything thinkable and start organizing it. Thats how I keep it together.

Seeing that percent mathematically jump up by 1.7% by doing a few small things is incredibly enlightening, and you can give an accurate percent done.

Re-assess the situation (hostage situation... snxxxx...) regroup and start where you left off.

Possible if you network the computer via LAN and somehow set up the second computer as another processor. I've seen it done and its all too necessary for rendering CG stuff. Wouldn't be too different from compiling maps I think. The compiler recognizes dual core and multiple processors so I think its possible.

I'm up to 32.7% last time I checked. Which means I did more modelling that is to no surprise.

However, Daubster is putting an immense amount of effort on his part to make the project all that it can be by adding some novelties to the code that solidifies the coolness to the mod. Things I wouldn't bother with or wouldn't ask because its minor detail and just didn't think of, plus he already had the workload of the kinesis code on his shoulder. :

Either way, some of his additions are adding more to my project list but I'm not sure how much. It will be very worth the extra work when its all set and done.

As for my part, I think I had all the stuff I need for the demo. I'll retrace my steps and doublecheck. Soon I'll start designing some maps, but not too much, Daubster estimates that the code could be done by the end of the year, putting the demo to come out of quarter 1 of 2008 (or in 3 months, same thing)

Also, I'm redoing the skin to the Glizard. Make it more Bone like rather than dirt like. I think I can do a nicer job with it than before. I'll post screens sometime.

To repair the edges in photoshop, use the "heal brush" and you can sample other parts to repair the seams. It automatically blends to match so work is minimal.

A better way is to use the High-Pass filter under other in the filters. it allows you to cut arbitrary light from your image. doing this before you heal makes the job much easier. if you do it this way, make the high-passed image a layer above your original and switch the mode to "luminosity" to correct light but not color. Flatten then offset and heal.

A texture on a face is oriented perpendicular to the direction of the face its applied to. When you select a face you get lines showing which way the texture is facing. An easy correction is to select the faces (you're dome, likely) and click "World"

Might mess your texturing, but it'll solve your problem.

i've got tools that can customize the screen font. I've made a few new ones but the process is retardedly tedious, anyone without adequate photoshopping skill would find this impossible, that or patience. Given you have to type a script that tells the compiler of the GFX.wad what the height and width of each letter is, and there are over 60 of them.

Something a little automatic would be awsome. If you want I can send you the tools so you may know what I mean. Its tough to explain.

The way I pull it off is I use the Slice tool in photoshop. It gives me the height, width, and coordinates in the slice parameter, but I still have to type it in.

Another tough one is the sprite at which displays the direction at which damage is coming from. I had to write a sprite .qc script to define it.

Hell, just make it a full interface tool.

if you want to add weapons, add a load of blank ones to the existing slots and make all of the parameters to all the weapons and cvar that is set in the skills.cfg

stuff like:
9mmar_firerate 10
9mmar_fireradius 3
9mmar_bulletamount 1 (more for shotguns)
9mmar_reloadtime 3
etc.

Either way, if i had another good name, i would change the name of my mod, but it kinda stuck the way it is. Even though it has nothing to do anything, its just a strange generic term for a strange generic mod with lots of weird crap. I guess maybe thats why I haven't cahnged it. :/

either way, my vote is still for Half-Good. Which it doesn't need to mean anything. Like whats that mod called... Half-Life: Arrange Mode

Don't do what valve did and name a Portal game "Portal" :roll:

They should have kept Narbocular Drop. Sounds cooler and doesn't mean anything.

Names that DO mean something have an awful amount to do with it. Usually heavy in storyline and the name is really faithful to it.

Halo is about the Forerunner's Halo devices.

In contrary; Half-Life is not a game about radioactive decay but still has to do with science, mostly the facility. If the game was about formulating chemistry, and technology to fight an onslaught of aliens, it might be a little more suiting.

i didn't include small stuff like particles and minor stuff. This is the bulk of it.
Keep in mind that the mapping will take the longest out of all of it.

For the demo, it will be the training ground and the entirety of the first level. The first level will be how it really is. None of that "Its only the demo so I can leave this out..." bullshit.

Demo might take longer, but I won't need to clean it up later. I can just continue making maps to finish it.

When the Training level is done, a video will be released explaining how the game functions.

Another weekend, another 3 models done... well, 2 and a half really.

I got a melee weapon and working as well as another character model started. It won't be long until it is into the game.

My new avatar is a super-high-res version of it. :D

Mostly a weekend of modelling and minor tweaks to get the game balanced.

Also, upon making stuff so that it works for steam users, I lost the customize button from the menu. so won-hl users will have a blank in the menu. its not important to really invest time to fixing it. It seems to be a weird glitch that can't be undone. The option still functions normally, it just don't appear visually... very strange.
