Also, Firefox has a plugin for irc as well. It's called Chatzilla.

I'd join the irc, but I'm afraid I no longer have the time.

The "point_camera" in source is called a point_viewcontroller. :)

The are used by vmex.

Vmex looks through the bsp and as soon as it finds an entity with the no-decomp key or the locked texture, it will stop, and fail the decompile.

Firebird was what firefox was called through it's first few steps into existance.

I really see no point to these threads, they're massively overdone. Everyone should know by now that 80% of the people around these kinds of forums use firefox, 10% ophra, and those last few that cling to IE.

in Glass? Post #168820
ok...

You need to look for a window file that comes already transparent. Not one of the building ones.

These should already have the decal correctly set. There is also a way to make a .vmt to set the decal yourself. Make a mywindow.vmt and put this inside.

"LightmappedGeneric"
{
"$baseTexture" "Name of whatever texture you want"
"$surfaceprop" "glass"
}

That should do it. As a last resort, you could make the window a phys_box, but I recommend against it.

Func_dustcloud (not motes) is your answer, turn it on shortly after the explosion.

Alos, I think you can use the ar2_explosion, or something like that, it's a point entity.

Hope this helps.

in Dark_Kilauea's Mapping Checklist Post #167571
This is a plan I made up a while ago, but I lost the notebook containing it. At last, I managed to find it. This is a checklist designed with a personal release in mind, but most of it applies to all mapping projects. Enjoy.

A. Planning
1.Draft (Walls, Stairs, ect. Just plan the map layout)
2.Pictorial Drawings of details
3.Mark entities

B. Map Hull
1.All vis blocking walls
2.Do not texture
3.Any Major Terrain (Rough out)

C. Map Details/Model/Make Textures
1.Texture the map
2.Add the models
3.Make all brush entities
4.Add lighting.

D. Place Entities/Sound Effects
1.Do all sound
2.Place player entity (or entities)
3.Place weapons and ammo
4.Place any other point entities
5.Place Monsters (if applicable)

E. Cinematics
1.Place Actors
2.Script Scene

F. Playtest/Fix Bugs
1.Do playtesting by yourself (with +showbudget and wireframe to test vis.)
2.Playtest with other people (this is very important, and commonly forgotten)

G. Publish
1.Use a template readme for all your maps.
2.Be sure to include all necessary file (all custom textures, models, sounds, and scripts)
3.Make a zip file (Be sure to save directory path in such a way that the player can just unzip in their game directory.
4.Post on more than one site.

Note: I'm not telling anyone they have to do it this way, just a suggested path for making sure you get your projects done ;)

Also I wasn't quite sure where to put this, does it belong in this forum?

Nothing would be better than an army of bahro (actuatly, I'd only need one) ;)

Link in, mug the guy, and link out, dropping him from 1,000 feet above the ocean.

Note: For those who don't understand what I'm talking about, the bahro really appear in myst V: End of Ages. They are creatures with the ability to change space and time at will. Look it up, I'm sure you'll find more info.

in Emo kids Post #167099
Here in Iowa, we don't really have many goth people, or emo for that matter. We do have a few people that wear black, and have chains on there pants, but not the same as a goth. I remember this one senior that was (at least what I'd consider) gothic, and strangely enough, he was one of the more popular guys.

I'm glad based on many of your descriptions that I've never met an emo person, cuz frankly, he/she would probably not have a happy life here.

Just my opinion :)

in Skybox/water issue Post #166008
The skybox is like that for a reason, the skybox was meant to be a cheap way to make a map look much bigger than it was. Because it's supposed to be cheap, all textures and such are turned to their cheap counterparts. I don't think 3d skyboxes even have reflections.

Hope this helps explain why.

try making a func_train and setting it as the target of the camera. The camera will now always look at the train, so you can use the train to swing the view around at the very end.

Indeed, I have skyroads on my computer and have played it. Explosive tiles always pissed me off :)

And thanks for the comments, I know the blue diamond (superjump) power-up is buggy. The fix however problably would require a complete recoding of the gravity and jump stuff, and I just don't feel like it :) I had it "fixed" once, but the new code broke the jumping so you could only jump at the holes. I decided to revert back to increase difficulity.

Your free to mod or edit it as much as you want to, just give me credit. I've however given up on it, and have moved on.

Sometimes you also get dead pixels when the screen is manufactured. The larger the screen, the more the chance of dead pixels.

I have a LG Flatron(17"). I'm pretty happy with, no dead pixels and a response time of 13 ms (advertised as 12). When playing, the picture is smooth.

The warrenty sucks though, you have to have more than 3 dead pixels for a replacement.
