Counter-Strike 1.6 supports an env_rain entity, with a bit of fiddling with it you could make it snow.

Their avs look similar at first glance, just like mine and trapt's (old) one.

But yeah. Do some of your own personal work and work on making it really good. Then if you apply for mods and such you can show people those screenshots and/or map and then they'll invite you onto the team if they like your work.

Both Hugh and I are in charge of IH, I'd say.

And we have a full team ATM, unless you can convince us to add another chapter, but I doubt we'll go for it unless you do a complete overhaul of the storyline and rewrite it.

Check ModDb for HL mods, there are some that are often accepting new members.

Each team can only pick up the other team's flag, unless they walk over it to return it to base. This is the gameplay mode and coding. If you want to change it, You'd have to do some recoding.

And for team selection....afaik, this was only in the CTF maps, I don't remember getting team selection windows on op4_meanie or park or any of the other non CTF maps.

You need to load a FGD file that contains all the entity information that HL will need. These come with Hammer and are in Hammer Install Dir fgd half-life or counter-strike or whatnot, depending on what game you map for. Just open your options screen, go to game configurations, and add the FGD with the button on the right, near the top by the list box.

Both teams can pick up the other team's flag, always, in OpFor CTF. This can't be changed.

Team selection only comes up in OpFor CTF, and by selecting your character you select your model. It's not present in normal OpFor DM, you need to manually change your player model by going into your options screen and changing it on the list.

I recommend against carving. Just make each brush manually, it will save time in the long run.

Experiment with angles, vertex scaling, cylinders and arches, and texture selection and alignment and scale...Most professional (and professional-quality) maps don't rely on blocks, and use textures where sometimes, you would've never thought them useful!

Also, get familiar with the clip tool. It's very handy and good for detailing architecture and making it more interesting.

It won't run the team selection screen in Team DM. It only shows it in OpFor CTF (Removed from Steam, at the moment, without a 3rd party install) afaik.

Go to options - multiplayer and you can select a model for your character. Changing this model changes your team, so if I select the 'Tower' model then I'm on team 'Tower' with whoever has a Tower model as their player model.

MoTD cannot be changed for individual maps, afaik, and if it can, it would probably be done with AMX.

That overwrite thing is toggled with the 'Insert' key.

And yes, why can't you download? Something like NetNanny I'd assume? (It's fairly easy to kill, but I won't tell you more than that...)

Is this cause from hacks, or does NS require more bandwith for some reason?
NS hacks? What are these? Hackers are almost instantly removed from the community...

NS may require a bit more bandwith because it's more detailed and uses more things like particle systems and detailed player models and such. It can be laggy in big battles, it likes to cl_FlushEntityPacket me in big battles.

ZombieLoffe, you realise you're up against the largest unofficial HL mod community here?

Game directory always needs to be valve for any HL-based mod.

It should look for the wadfiles in a mod directory. Try closing Hammer, putting the wad file in nhs, then loading it into Hammer and trying again. Or, use the -wadinclude switch on hlcsg and embed the wad file into the BSP file.

The texture application tool can help you align textures. (Shift-A) The FIT button is something I use a lot, in combination with manually adjusting the scales and alignments. It takes a bit of practice and patience, and a considerable amount of time to get texture alignments perfect. Experiment with the tools in the texture application tool.

When you add things....to what? Your map? Texture or prefab lists? Give me a bit more detail and I can help you better.

Look in the bottom right of the screen. There's a little text area that reads 'Snap : On or Off and Grid : x, where x equals Your grid size in units. So if it's teh default 64, one square box, aligned to grid, would be 64x64x64.

Press [ or ] to adjust your grid size smaller/larger.

It's possible to get viruses from more than just downloading. Trojans, spyware, and nasty dialers like to infect your computer when you use IE or low-security browsers. It's especially bad when you don't run a firewall or Virus Scanner with latest updates.

Uploading itself won't give you a virus, but if you upload an infected file, then you can give other people that virus and then they get angry.
