That mapping looks great! reminds me of the end of HL2 and thats a good thing. Keep up the great work, i'll be around so if you need anything, i'll do what i can.
take the number 2, multiply that by 2, which is 4. Multiply that by 2 and you get 8, times 2 equals 16, then 32, and 64. So on and on.
you will get an error if you use a resolution like 266 x 133. not powers of two. 256 x 128 is and that'll work.
But i think that the HL and HL2 engine doesn't care as long as it divisible by 16. Like the numbers 48, 96, and 384. However, a compression will be placed on it. Though it might not happen in source, i don't know it that well.
Start with common number like 64, 128, 256, and 512.
GIFs are indexed with 256. If your using Photoshop, go to Mode > Index. Some options will appear. There is an option for Transparency underneath the Forced dropdown (forces those colors to the pallette anyways) Click OK. Now select the parts you want transparent and delete them so the white and grey checker pattern shows through. After that, save it as a CompuServe GIF.
the SC award is exactly 100 px tall. that could get cramped if you want to add text, which I'll leave mostly to you.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing when i read the news. But does anyone have the original sized trophies (because I don't) or do i have to make a 2007 edition?
Yeah. If i had money to light on fire so i can set flame to more money, i would buy a wii and wait play zelda, ultimiately waiting for the metroid games to come out.
I love the format that game is in, even though th 2D classics still rock harder than the eye-candy 3D versions. I based almost all of Turnstile, Crusadox, and Planet X off of metroid alone.
FYI: Crusadox and Planet X were RPG projects. CX was awsome, but PX was replaced by Turnstile because of the ideal being way too similar. I'd much rather work on PX but there is zero audience for it and its difficult to get one for an old 8bit RPG. Sad i must scrap it.
I don't think that mission loader thing is gonna work. Its for CS: Condition Zero. Unless its modable, i can't really use it. I look at it anyway.
Yes... Max is very expensive. That's why i'm lucky to have a student discount, and its still expensive. ($250+) Yet i spent the money on it to have it get corrupted and lock itself on my system, both max8 and max9. so don't bother me for models, i can't do anything about it.
I'll still try work on 6D though. Like textures and map stuff. Maybe skyboxes if i get a chance.
uhm... thats a combination of a lot of things. It was probably based in blender, but finessed in ZBrush and rendered using either Maya, Mental Ray, or VRay.
Its impossible to do it all in one prog. I use a combo of Photoshop, Max, and Mental Ray.
Whether its comedy mod or not, it still needs good who, when, what, where, why, and how details.
A good way to make a mod is to develop 2 things, the main character, and the world and how the rules apply to the player, or what rules can be broken by the player.
Sounds like a nice setting. Is there a defined plot or story, or is it mission based stuff? Either way it does have potential. I think it would be awsome if you started as an exile and you get captured and your talents are put to good use. It would work as far as the solo act goes. Just a thought.
About the slime monsters, a blob model set to additive from the model viewer would make them nearly invisible in the dark but exposed when you shine them with your flash light. i experimented with this and headcrabs. Works quite well and it creepy, but i have no use for it. Sounds like you could put it to better use if you want to.
Hype is good, gets people to inspire and ask you questions you might not ask yourself.
FYI: the water textures start with an exlamation point !
Even though i have no friggin idea if that was said, heheh. I only speak 1 english.
Muzzle speaks dutch? that explains why you never wanted to talk on the mic over MSN... I thought you were a girl and didn't want to expose the secret... errrr, wait...
This mod makes landmarks and level changes obsolete. It uses the changelevel console command. I made it this way just incase the hub had 60 or 70 portals to each level, but thats was way back when. Also its easier to handle and map for, all you need is a player_start.
I still have no idea, and I can't get that built-in menu thing working that spirit has. I was thinking of having the maps list there, and people could choose through them. But like i said its b0rkt.
PS3, yes, has high-end graphics, but not only that, playstation has put out some awsome games in the past. Their powerful new system will let them pull the strings and hopefully get more creative.
360 as well has put out a great variety of games that have become almost overatingly popular. Like halo and halo 2, halo 3 has some hype. Not only that, there is Prey, and Gears of War, and so on.
Wii saved their as with a new innovative controller. Even though the system is a Gamecube with more ram. Yes, we'll see plenty of point and do stuff type games in the future, which will get monotonous and less popular unless they pump out awsomely epic games that have fanbases like Zelda, Metroid, and Mario.
The most successful system I would have to say is 360. Good games, not too over-the-top expensive to buy, and offers promising quality in the future.
I have it where you start at the bottom of the first tower. Here, it shows your progress and stuff. You take an elevator up to the first hub of few stages. When you beat each of the levels, a bridge will appear to allow you to access the bottom of the next tower with an elevator that takes you up to the next round of levels. It does this a few times until you win.
Also, this provides me with room to add scenery, and you get to see the towers from a distance. Nice for aesthetic appeal, especially since its a hub and not much else.
EDIT: No promises, but maybe there could be a way to access custom maps from the hub without having to type crap in the console. I have no idea how this would work if its even possible.
Some of the newer engines render only light. Its lightweight, but the calculation process is tedious and long, nothing a little compression won't handle i hope. Either way, polygons are nice, but we're beginning to think outside the box as what is being seen and what isn't.
Rendering only light creates billions of photon points, which are kinda like voxels.
Thats what makes this image i did so special. It was done using the Mental Ray engine, which renders only light and its physical properties.
wimps. school closes if there is only 12 inches on the roads. anyless and school was on. Then again, northern minnesota... meh.
Florida.
Anyway, global warming: yeah we contributed to about 1% of the overall rise. Naturally our planet is warming up since we're comming out of an ice-age. I can't wait until its tropical everywhere.
Actually thats what gave the idea in the first place. Either way, i don't have any clue as to the design of the hub. I was thinking of a large circular area with paths that go off in several directions, each along its own little path to a room with the level portal. meh.
Currently, i'm trying to get each of the settings in place so I have all of the resources available to map. I'll see what i can scratch up for designs and maybe post a sketch of something.
think of the hubble space telescope. We can see lightyears into space. Imagine that technology improved by a thousand years or so. I think we've been seen by aliens but its not too likely we have been visited, or visited up close. if they're intelligent, they'd think we have defenses so they keep their distance.
Visited, likely. I'd say yes.
I bet an alien spacecraft is sitting right next to the chinese spy satelite, both watching Tosse masturbate.
I'm not having the time to develop this, i got too many other things (like shopping, family, opening gifts, skyboxes, etc.) to care after.
I have developed minor things, like i did two new texture sets... which isn't much, since there are only 6 to 8 textures per theme. Its the models and skyboxes that are difficult.
I've been modelling some "gifts" for some friends around here.
if its stationary, hide behind something. I would put cover in if that was the case.
originally i was using the miniturret monster. until i realised you can turn them off completely. i looked through what i have available and controllers worked nicely.
