Have you actually "built" the cubemaps?

if not, enter the console and type: buildcubemaps

The map will reload and should work.

Either that or you've set the cubemap up wrong in the VMT file.

I have lost count of how many times I've considered it, but whilst I'm working full time and have got ever so many other things on my plate at the moment its just another dream that I've left at the back of the shelf. :(

You quickly grab the pistol in one of the cops leg holsters, flicking off the safety and squeezing the trigger. The shot rings in your ear as the bullet tears into the cops leg and the pistol released from the holster. He screams as he collapses onto the pavement, holding his leg as blood pumps out of the gaping wound.

The second cop drops you and furiously tugs at his pistol, attempting to release it from the holster. You quickly aim and fire 3 rounds into his chest, he staggers backwards and slumps down against a lamp post. You turn back to the wounded cop and fire a shot into his face, smashing through one of the eye lenses.

Then you freeze, quickly looking towards the barricade. The APC unloads several rounds from its mounted machine gun, shredding your torso and smashing into the masonry of the building behind you. You are thrown backwards onto the road and stare up into the sky. Your body jerks as you try to sit up, quickly loosing your strength. You prop yourself up on one arm and look to the APC just as it fires off one final round. The bullet smashes into your forehead and everything goes black.

Without a second thought you jump into action. You charge at the metrocop while his back is turned. Your vision begins to blur with rage as you feel yourself running faster and faster. Suddenly, as you are almost within reach of the cop, a humming stunstick whips out towards you from your left side. Your head goes numb as the burning metal baton cracks across the front of your throat and you collapse in a heap. Clutching your pummeled larynx, you agonizingly roll onto your back to let out a scream, but all that comes out is a quite gurgle and a lot of blood. The second cop leans down beside you, his mask a few feet from your face.

"What are you planning to do? Start an uprising in the middle of the city all by yourself?" he snorts, his voice alienated by the vocoder in his mask. Just then his radio kicks in, the overwatch announcers unfeeling tone all too familiar.

"SUSPECTS DOWN IN SECTOR 3:14 RESPONCE CODE GREEN. REPORT. EXECUTE PUNISHMENT PROCEDURE 1279."

"Hah. Looks like your going to the lockup big man." one of the CP's laughs as you are hauled to your feet.

"What about this one?" the other asked, pointing to the beaten citizen on the ground.

"Leave him."

You feel yourself being dragged forwards. You raise your head slightly, blood still dripping from your mouth. At the end of the street you make out a barricade with an APC parked nearby. You briefly check the two cops and see that they are both carrying stunsticks and pistols.

A)Grab a pistol and fight your way to freedom
B)Struggle free and make a run for it
C)Let them load you into the APC and see where they're taking you
D)Struggle free and fight them barehanded

Allan's Story
Day 1
Welcome to City 17

The wooden doors creak open and the eastern winds send dust and debris in your direction, the cold blast of air almost knocks you off your feet. The citadel sits dead ahead of you, towering over the entire city, ever watchful. It looks a lot bigger close up. You steady yourself on your feet and rub your black eye, an unwanted and undeserved gift from a CP having a bad morning. You gradually make your way down the steps and into the plaza. The monolithic structure in the middle has been transformed into a propaganda tower. Fortunatly, it appears to be offline at the moment. After being swatted in the face for no good reason the last thing you need right now is more of Breen's euphoria bullshit.

A metrocop is standing guard a few feet away. He glances over at a female citizen who passes infront of you. You keep your head down and make your way to one of the benches across the street. As you ease down onto it, your headache seems to get worse. You look back to the female citizen just in time to spot her exchange a few words with another citizen passing in the opposite direction. This seems to be the break the paranoid metrocop has been waiting for all morning. He almost joyfully whips out his stun stick and runs towards the citizens. The male jolts on the spot and pushes the woman past him.

"Run!" he shouts, and readys himself to take on the cop. He's no match. The woman vanishes into an alleyway down the street without looking back, just as the stunstick connects with the man's head with an audible crack. He crumples to the floor and the metrocop begins to kick him over and over.

A)Do nothing and walk away?
B)Run over and break it up?
C)Shout abuse at the metrocop?
D)Shout abuse at the troublemaker?

Also...

Vass Paramanov (Option C) is a metrocop, not a combine soldier.
Civil Protection officers are ordinary human beings who have willingly joined the Combine, either for more privileges, such as additional food and better living conditions, an increase in authority and status over others, or out of genuine sympathy and identification with the Combine's aims. As such, they are not bio-mechanically modified in any way. Their willing collaboration with the Combine occupation as well as their cruelty and disregard for the lives and dignity of ordinary citizens has made them much hated amongst the human populace.
No matter, the masses have spoken.

Hey guys.

So, I've got myself in the mood to write a multiple choice fan fiction again. However this time I have decided to make the readers more involved by posting shorter sections, more regularly with more choices available.

For those of you not familiar with the Multiple Choice fan fictions, I used to write entire chapters before giving the readers the chance to choose between a few options on how to continue the story. This was decided by the number of votes per option. I always started out by saying "Anything could happen including the death of the main character."

This was often untrue because the choices often involved simple directions and objectives as opposed to be actual action choices. So this time, its more of a role-playing story. First step, choose a character.

A)
Name: Allan McReary
Age: 23
Role: At the start of the story timeline (2 weeks prior to Freeman's arrival) Allan is a new arrival in City 17. He has no idea who Gordon, Kliener, Alyx or Barney are. He is currently accepting the combine rule over the planet and as yet is simply letting life pass him by while trying to keep his nose clean.

This character is essentially a blank canvas and can take any path, whether it to be a solitary existance, joining the resistance or even the Civil Protection.

B)
Name: Dave Glenn
Age: 27
Role: At the start of the story timeline (2 weeks prior to Freeman's arrival) Dave Glenn is a rebel leader, in charge of a pocket of resistance fighters, about to lead an assault on a combine barricade.

This character will remain true to a resistance role, fighting against the combine until he is killed or captured and surgically dehumanised.

C)
Name: Officer V Paramanov
Age: 32
Role: At the start of the story timeline (2 weeks prior to Freeman's arrival) Vass is a high ranking metrocop sniper who is tasked with eliminating key resistance targets throughout the canal district.

This character will remain true to a combine role, fighting against the resistance forces in City 17 and the surrounding areas. This will last until he is killed or turns against his superiors.

Simply vote A, B or C to choose a character. The character with the most votes by tomorrow night will be the main character throughout the story. The story will be told in the first person so decisions will be actions that the character can take given their situation. They WILL DIE by making bad decisions.

Urbanian explorers under the rule of Morris Von Urban claim the eastern island of Isla Sueno (The Island of Dreams)

Morris Von Urban builds "Urban's Manor" and takes up a perminent residence on Isla Sueno.

Urbania establishes its own defense force. The Urbanian Defence Spec Ops (U.D.S.O) which monitors the security and well being of all major cities and includes a counter-terrorist operation.

Port Tara officials outlaw the import of piss weak beer and Huntey Centaurian manufactured automobiles.

Played a small section of Arrangement a while back and I was utterly disappointed. Sketchy level design, massive rendering issues and the ragdolls and other physics were all fake. >:(

Considering the same man advertised World of Warcraft worldwide, I'm thinking...no.

I have never been to a steakhouse but there are a few here in the UK, usually in holiday towns in the south. I rarely eat out these days but when I do I usually go to Wetherspoon's in Hanley or Newcastle. Traditional English resteraunt and bar.

I don't see Source or Goldsource handling an entire open world somehow. Best bet would be to mod Fallout 3 or Oblivion because of the engine capabilities and the sheer amount of scripting and NPC options you would need.

Unless you go oldschool and go with a 2D top down zelda / Final Fantasy style RPG.

A Brief History of Urbania

Urbania was founded by Urby Awesometon who was awesome. Then a load of crap got built and stuff. In present day, Urbania is made famous by its cuisine which while loved and recommended by Urbanians, is often turned down by other countries for its "yucky ickyness."

Mizziberg

In earlier years, a civil war had broken out between the eastern and western sides of Urbania and in the closing days Mizziberg was the focal point of the fighting. However on the final day, both factions stopped fighting when a band of cats charged into the battlefield and sat, firmly between the 2 firing lines. It was this that triggered the sudden rise in feline population within the city. To this day, a staggering 9 out of every 10 households in Mizziberg are cat owners.

Tara Port

The main port of Urbanias imports and exports. The countries main imports are Cat food, cat litter and cat nip.

Its main export is a highly effective fertilizer and animal deterant produced by Morris & Dodds Chemical Engineering. The substance comprises of mostly cat poo and dead mice.

Note to holiday makers: Tara Port is not known for its fresh sea air

There should be a field in the monster_maker thats something like 'trigger on monster death' unless I dreamt that. It's been a while :rly:

Otherwise, just have the garg in the map to begin with in a room somewhere outside the main play area. Then have it teleport in using scripted sequences. Then you can just use the TriggerCondition (On Death) and Target fields.

Then I added two keyvalues to it aswell, laser1 = .01 being the two func_trains
Well theres a problem there for a start. If both func_trains are called laser1 then the beam isn't going to be able to determine a start or end entity.

Also, make sure the env_beam has an infinite lifespan.

It sounds like you've got an issue in your compile so that RAD isn't running.

Either that or you have forgotten to compile with RAD in the first place.

Yeah, Opposing Force has multiple melee weapons coded in. If you don't own / want to use Opposing Force, then coding is your only option.

Far Cry 2 has the most non-linear gameplay of any game.
Ahem, Far Cry 2 doesn't count as non-linear because shit is far too repetitive. Theres a total of 5 missions and they just loop over and over again. It is far from ground breaking.

Fallout 3. Now thats a non-linear game and there are literally thousands of paths to take.
