No, the pointfile (there are two: the .prt and the .lin file) is actually usefull. The lin file that is, this file is way more accurate.

Open the pointfile via menu Open Pointfile. Hammer ask if you want to open mapname.prt. Click no. Find the .lin file and open that. Folow the line from blue to red and it should take you to the leak (or very close to, it depends.).

my version of hl isnt 1.1.1.0, i think its like 1.0.0.9
I highly recommend that you update your HL to 1.1.1.0, since most mods and maps require this version to be installed, or else they won't run properly or not run at all. You can get the 80 MB patch from my website. This patch also installs DMC, TFC and Ricochet. If you don't want these mods, simply delete the corresponding mod folders. Saves up on disk space a lot.

You need Steam to play HLDM. Playing HLDM with the old Won version of Half-Life is no longer supported, since Won has been taken over by Steam.

You may want to look for a advanced CS FGD file, i believe that one has more usefull entities than the default one. Not sure though.

So you want to put a chair model in your map? Then i would use a cycler entity, it automatically makes models solid. Just place your chair model in cstrike/models and enter "models/chair_filename.mdl" (no quote) in the model property of the cycler entity properties.

You have three possibilities:

1. The cycler entity. The cycler_sprite is for sprites (.spr) only, as you can obviously see. The cycler entity is best used for props. Its solid.

2. The monster_generic entity. Usually used for custom npc's. It bleeds when you shoot it, and it gibs when exploded.

3. The monster_furniture. Can also be used for monsters and props, but is non solid, meaning you can walk though it.

Its up to you yo decide wich one suits your needs, it all depends on what kind of model you want to put in your map.

Are you sure you have HL version 1.1.1.0 installed?

I've seen this before and there's a fix for it. Try this:

Open the pak0.pak file in your valve folder with Wally or PakScape. Find the gfx folder and copy that folder AND its contents to you valve folder outside the pak0.pak file.
Now HL can read the sky textures straight from the hard drive, instead from the pak file.
