My idea was to start in the room and to have to climb upwards into the ceiling area and up again to maintenance areas and such (all straight above the first room until you get to a puzzle which results in most of the room being destroyed and having to climb down through crumbling / burning wreckage.
I was thinking a main room with about 5 smaller layers on top.

Came away from this years Xmas pretty well pleased.
Got me 4 new Xbox Games, a load of clothes, some gimmicky crap which is all pretty entertaining and a few DVD's. Then finally (as a suprise) another box appeared containing a new Dual Core AMD processor and a motherboard to sit it on. All I need now is a new Graphics card and I got the cash for that as well.

There is a mod called Kliener's Adventures too. It sucks hard.
Personally I always like playing Black Mesa themed mods (considering they're well done) as it makes the scale of the facility all the more impressive.

You need to learn to be patient if you want to model.
Have you tried Milkshape3D? Its pretty crude in terms of modelling but I find for hacking and tweaking models its a fairly easy thing to pick up.
