Any quarter-decent image editing program will allow you to adjust colour balances :|.
Protecting against decompiling is like DRM, really: hopeless. Since the aim is always to let the end-audience use it with some restrictions, they can always work against it. If you can view/play it, you can do anything you want with it, really.

Why not go open-source on maps and release the RMFs too, with the GNU or Creative Commons licence?
