The scenery certainly looks very varied. Might get a bit boring and hard endlessly playing gargantuas, though.

Yeah; never use -nowadtextures. Always include proper custom WADs with -wadinclude blah. It's covered in the Custom Textures tutorial!

G_KID: yeah, we could do with one of those. Maybe if arrogant entrants for this one feel like making a base map during this competition, win it, and then have it all ready for their competition, we can have one :).

Hm, well, the layout seems nice, and accessible rooves would make for some nice sniping. Might be a bit complex for CS 1.6, though, or are you mapping this for Source?

Also, armoury stuff, weapon stashes, generally don't work too brilliantly in serious maps.

Are you sure it's not scrolling? Try rotating the texture itself ninety degrees (not applying it at ninety degrees, actually rotate the texture in the WAD file). Y'never know.

Remove everything in the Textures list, move the WADs to a sensible place ("C:Program FilesValve Hammer Editorresources" would be a good idea), re-add the textures from there, and you should be away.

Heh, my mistake. I think SpaG and I both meant "yes", reading it as "is an Athlon64 3500+ better than a P4 3.2GHz". I certainly did. Athlon64 for the win!

I already advised davideo that, though, so he probably doesn't need my opinion again.

Definitely!

I'd try and get a 1MiB cache Athlon64 myself, though. I think the FX-55s have 2MiB caches, and as for the rest, some have 1M-B and some only have 512kiB (0.5MiB).

Kasperg: go for Zalman with air-cooling. Here and here are a couple of screenshots of my Zalman CPU and GPU fans. Each running across, I think, three volts with this fan controller, they're silent, and I get >60? idle CPU temperature. That way I can leave me PC on at night at my feet and not notice a thing.
