use a batch compiler like nems batch compiler (google). this gives you a checkbox called "no wad textures" which will put all the used textures into the BSP. if you want a quicker option, just put -nowadtextures into the parameters box, or wadinclude (i'm a bit foggy on this one, but kol seems to answer those sort of questions alot).
as soon as you start up hammer 4 they get loaded in. textures (or materials, as they are now called) are not stored in WAD files. each texture has its own individual file containing light information, bump mapping and much more. you dont need to search around for them, just load up hammer and go.
and half life 3 could have a sexy AI construct! and a fuckannoying alien race of parasites who can use human weapons! top it all off with a few doomsday weapons and you've got the recepie for a really crap idea.
if you really cant think of a name, just keep the word "monkey" and put a random word in front of it or behind it. thats what everyone else seems to have done (rabidmonkey777, seventh-monkey, the_sixth_monkey...)
just type "record recordingname" into the console. google around and find a website with all the commands. using the record command makes a .dem file which can be played back by anyone with hl2 and the map being used (i think).
i could use my other PC as a dedicated server for a website, but i have no bloody idea how to do it! AND my router probably wont let people in! AND i dont want to pay for anything!
build a corridor, build another corridor, build a box, dd an icky and a crossbow, build a corridor, build another corridor, build a box, build a corridor, add a grunt.
my first map was pretty complex compared to yours.
it does have settings, i just cant work them. if someone tells me how to, then i can set up a server to play anything (that isnt on the source engine).
THE BANSTICK WAS MINE! i originally suggested that andy should give out more bansticks to the face. then ant stole it, then you guys stole it. YOU STOLE MY BANSTICK!
as for the game, you should try copying it over to hl2 when you get it. although i have no idea how to get the textures over (i recently tried to change the same textures over myself.)
