Bad news Guise. My PC is totally knackered (again). The GFX card made a nasty sound and the screen is now green! I can get layouts of maps done and maybe do some modelling but skinning, texture art and lighting are impossible dues to the suckage that is my PC.

Having said that I'm sure the rest of my team are hard at work on their parts right? Right?

Also make sure that you uncheck the option that makes it open when you touch it.
That only happens if there is nothing set to trigger it otherwise.

Hmmm thats a toughy. From a net browsing point of view the mouse would be good from browsing but you couldn't speak. You could with a keyboard but General browsing would be a bitch.

It's like that infinite stairway in Super Mario 64. You make a teleport at the end that brings you back to the beginning. Thus, the bridge becomes a loop.
The teleports use point entities so visually it would be horrible. You would keep jumping to wherever the teleport point was placed. Also, how would he get off the other end? Hmmm?

Half-Life one would have major trouble rendering that kind of environment. However, like Worldcrafter said, a bridge that size is unneccesary.

If its just for show you'll have to swallow your pride and make something less impressive.

If its to make the bridge section last a really long time for the player just put more challenges in along the way. HL2's bridge level lasted a good 10 minutes or so due to combat in an awkward environment and so on. Just make the section more challenging for the player and give it 2 levels (Main bridge and foundations undersection) and have the player go up and down to avoid obsticles. It would be far more challanging and entertaining than simply running along a really long bridge.

Dave, your map suffers from Fit_Button_Syndrome.

It seems that rather than take the extra time to line up the textures (on what is actually quite impressive) brushwork you seem to have hit the fit button to save yourself the effort.

The edges of these stairs for example. Rather than rendering 4 small 16x64 trim style textures the engine is having to render 4 128x128 textures that have been horribly compressed.

These crates will rape and murder RAD. You've obviously selected the whole thing and hit the fit button and ignored the "treat as one" flag. Therefore rather that rendering the texture 6 times its doing ot 60 times per crate and you have about 10 of these in the map. Thats 600 textures being rendered where there should only be 60!!!

More textures horribly compressed with the fit button. It also saves time to render a small portion of the texture rather than the whole thing.

And again. You've packed a 128x256 texture onto a 128 x 16 unit face. You could have used a trim texture or simple aligned the one that was there already.

Building Cube Maps can eats your processor power for a few seconds but even my dinosaur computer can handle it. I can't think why you'd be booted out of the game.

I would blame the laptop but thats just my general hatred towards laptops talking.

Downloading from servers still requires the skybox to be put in your directory. You'll probably find that the custom skybox from escape_usa will be in your gfx/env folder somewhere.

As far as I am aware there is no other way. You have to DL the skyboxes.
