Hmm, yeah, perhaps I should. Might increase the pressure to actually get it done. It's on the todo :)

Does it have to be played in CS? Try it in standard HL (if you have it), and if it still goes all translucent, it's a very strange bug... if it doesn't, it's either a CS client bug (unlikely) or... err... there's something fishy going on.

BTW, Geocities prob. checks the referer header on a request to make sure the link was either on a Geocities site or not a link at all... useless in browsers like the one Bllwnkle is using, which doesn't send the referer header.

Yeah, I fixed them just now. The script uses a little trick: only look for smilies if there's a colon in the text. But the winking one doesn't have a colon. So now it looks for a colon or semi-colon. Ta-da!

Okey-doke. It's on the Official TWHL TODO

It's always a good idea to Google for a site if you know its name. Google secret number one: page titles count more than anything!

Plenty of people get here by googling for 'twhl' :) That might have something to do with the less-than-friendly url...

The counter's as basic as it gets. I did it a while ago because I needed something to put in there. More to come, of course.

Good idea, but fitting a waypoint section into the vault would need a little work, so I'll do it if there's enough interest.

Interest, anyone? :)

Lol... thanks!

I think PHP tuts would look a bit funny near 'how to make trees' and so on, but I have another site which has an open-source scripts section -> http://cariad.co.za/bluebox/?sec=scriptbox

It's still kind-of under development, so there's not much there yet.

I prob. won't release TWHL source code soon, partly because lots of it is a real mess. If I rewrite TWHL at some stage, I might release the old code, but you'll probably have learnt PHP by then :)

Of course, you're welcome to e-mail me with PHP questions, because I like answering them. :)

Since the topic of this was originally the shoutbox - well, could I mod that too?
Heh, sure, when I write mod functions for it :) When I mod it, it's through the database itself.

in Download Link in Map Vault don't wor Post #7503
It ignores URLs that aren't zips. It should have told you that the link was invalid...

I've changed the code so that it now accepts any URL, so if you view your map and click [edit], you should be able to re-link it.

Yep, everyone gets an [edit]. I'm still busy with the profile page and journal system though. Got some little tweaks to do... plan to put a 'latest journal entries' thing on the front page as well.

Anything I've missed?

Cool ideas guys. I like the two-phase thing - it would give me a chance to answer my warning e-mails :)

To the OP: I really don't know why it's taking me so long to do the little mod icons. Might have something to do with having both my arms amputated and having to learn how to use a PC all over again. Life's a bitch sometimes.

in Deleting of Forum Posts Post #4780
Hey guys! This is news to me. :)

Are posts actually moving, or just getting put earlier than they should? If it's the latter, then it's probably the whole server-out-of-sync issue that caused (-es?) the onliner times to go into negatives.

If it's the former, it must be solar flares or goblins.

Either way, not much I can do :)

in Site Problem Post #3736
server's fault points finger and wags it sternly.

When you upload, the file gets stored temporarily until it's done, then it's moved. I reckon the server deletes the temp files pretty frequently, and it sometimes just happens to delete one you're busy uploading.

You'd think it would keep recent files (and sessions, for that matter - you've probably noticed how it logs you out randomly), but it doesn't, which is dumb, but perhaps necessary, since the host has about a million other sites to deal with.

try it again. persevere!

okay, you got me! It is a conspiracy, I haven't written one, it is complicated, I have been arrested, and I have been transported through time to the Victorian era... so I'm writing this on a typewriter.

That last bit best explains why there's no edit feature.

you need them hosted somewhere (so it's not like the avatars).
