I've got some trouble working out a repeating razor train in a multiplayer map.

I used the tutorial to make the train in the first place over at Halfwit( http://www.halfwit-2.com/?page=tutorials&id=42 ), continued on to make it circle outside of the map going on extra paths and coming back around and meeting up with the first one. It repeats fine and all but when it comes around back to the start it lags my game, for about 10 seconds I get like 0.5fps. I'm not too great with setting up entities in source, but if anyone could help me with this or tell me how I could do this (Possibly without making it circle around the outside of the map) it would be great.

Ugh old thread but I'll just confirm.

It's my computer, I'm administrator on it but it wanted to remove a crap load of other stuff that I needed with it. I got it removed and now everything works.

Fixed it, the nVidia Firewall (Which I can't delete) is the problem. After I removed processes linked to it everytihng works.

I've just reformatted my PC the other day, and ahve jsut finished getting all my source games back up. I've been having a few problems with EP2, Gmod and probably Portal/TF2 as well.

I'm getting really bad stuttering in the game menus and in-game. I mean like, I see movement for a second then it stops for 10 seconds and so on. I've looked around the steam forums, no answer. I've reinstalled Gmod (Because that's the game I need to work) nothing helped. I did notice something going on my my Task Manager that looks a bit odd.

The svchost, compared to what it was before I reformatted and now I used to have 1 in the Task manager (To my knowledge) and now i have 5 or 6, that they are munching my CPU up. I'm thinking this may be the issue but I'm not sure.

If anyone has any Ideas on what I could try to fix this please, your help is needed.

EDIT: And my Video Drivers are on the latest version too.

Well Daub, Urb basicly said it I mean to say Review both, give one the award is saying it. Basicly putting it that mine was too short, not enough gameplay and all up not a Valid enough entry to get anything.

I don't see how mines not playable, its a while c1a0 re-make. Sure there's no action or puzzles but you can still walk around in it.

Its in no way fair that if its left as a Tie and voted and reviewed as a Tie and only his gets an award. I don't recall seeing that a map has to have Enemies and puzzles and all that sort of shit to get the award. Look I know you can judge off Playability if you want, but the maps main purpose was the lobby, not game play. I tried my best, I made it for the one reason - Fun, now i don't care if I win, or DocRock or superjer but I would rather a fair go then being taken out because I have no Gameplay, the votes are the same it doesn't change them if I have gameplay or no Gameplay. You want gameplay? impulse 76.

But if it's left as a Tie and both are reviewed, sure whatever. But DO not give one an award and leave the other without, its say "Oh yeah well people voted for you, and well we didn't think you deserved an award but this other one did because it was a bit different to what you usually see".

Ok so here's my trouble,

I've tried to get a scientist setup so when you lead him to the scanner he moves up to it and opens the door for you. I've looked at Seventh's tut on it, but its diffrent to what I'm doing.

Its sort of working, I can lead him up to it, he won't open it until I noclip through the door. I've had a look at the HL maps with this in it but they all had other scripts attached.

If anyone could tell me how to do it correctly, or anything like that it would be great. Any help is appricated.

I really did like this mod, even though I got a little confused at some parts.

Firstly I ran through the start building about 20 times looking for what to do, I pressed the button thinking I had to kill the CP (I had already tried using the button before), so I lead them down, gave the CP a bit of damage but it took too long so I lead them into the room with the civies, killed a few of them. Still nothing, while walking around the room I got the message from the woman in the white shirt. Grabbed my TV Killed the Man hacks, then I was good for the rest of that chapter.

Had no trouble at all passing the CP, did it first time there.

Got the Crowbar and suit fine. No confusion with any of the button/Door puzzles, as I was able to see numbers on the doors.

I did find the Airboat out of place, I could have easily walked most of that (The Radiation didn't hurt me - wtf?), if I had a little more space to get some speed and less corners to crash into I would have liked it.

The Church was very annoying, The constant "Ring the bell" was stupid, I yelled at the monitor a few times saying "I can't find the bloody key", maybe an extra line and more of a pause between when she says it, because the voice got annoying after the 3rd time. I didn't notice I could break the middle door until after 10 mins of looking for the key, which I didn't find.

Loved the Suit Idea, A little more eye room in the CPU suit would have been good though, I was on my side half the time looking through one eye, The Elite suit was good.

So yes overall great mod, I am sort of a Role Playing guy and I was fine with most of it. I'd give it a 4/5. Nice work!

HL: Dead Labs - Started when I was a noob, gathered a few mappers then it failed because i was a noob. Would be interesting to take it up again though and actully think it out.

Honestly Windows XP is the biggest pile of crap ever released.
I once installed it on my computer, and it ran soo slow.
Were you by any chance running a 400mhz CPU?

400mhz CPU + XP + 10Gb HDD = 20min startup.

I have to agree that Vista is shit, but I find that XP is alright at the moment for the stuff I do.

At the Moment I've got:
  • Computer Sounds
  • Wind Sound
But other then thats its all quiet.

Apprehension, I don't know why but I like it. And plus the area makes no sense. There was a high tech lab in a old crap area.

Other then that I liked the first two chapters, and then maybe office complex. (The PS2 version really screwed those areas up though. And please don't ask why I have the PS2 version.)
