Hi

I have a script ive been working on for a long time, but rather than try and film this i would like to attempt creating it in the source engine environment. The script is of horror genre and contains some really good ideas however i lack the skills needed to create an environment that can bring this to life.

I am looking at working closely with someone that has experience in creating these kind of maps using hammer, garrys mod or whatever, but as a side project, it only really needs to be a couple of hours a week, created room by room and the story moulded to fit the environment being created.

The map needs to be designed to be reactive, the participant needs to fight for his/her survival.

not sure if this is ridiculously obvious but i would like to use czero hostages in my map, how do i replace the old 1.6 hostage entities? even thats what i am supposed to do?

completely in the dark on this one please help :D

Thanks espen, i spent ages looking down the forums for the answer to this, guess it dont help when people write "anyone else have this problem" as the title, makes it much more difficult to find a specific problem when scanning the posts. if they were to write "elevator entity problem or something then i would of checked it out!

Hi! just followed the tutorial and put a lift in my cs map, i have the lift in a separate room to the starting position so i can fix the lighting to the lift without lighting the lift shaft, like it suggests in the tutorial and its fine for the first round but i find that when the round restarts the lifts disappear and end up in the separate room i created!!!

how can i make the lifts return to starting positions at the beginning of every round?

how do i edit posts? :

i know theres already a de_storm map but i was looking for weather effects similar to what is in the map, i already know how to create rain and i pretty sure i can put in the thunder.wav sound file the only thing im having problems with is the lightning...

is there a way to slow down the time between the flickers of light? or even using multi manager? if anyone has come across any tutorials that cover this i wud be very grateful! :D

im guessin the lightning is easy really, light-env with a slow flicker? something along those lines, and the thunder wud have to be an imported sound, mp3 probably, am i along the right lines?

thanks mario, yeah the idea was to have them pushable and breakable but he has just made them pushable now and indestructable!!

yeah thats exactly what i thought at first too, i left it compiling for 10 minutes and returned to find nothing responding at all. the previous times i have compiled in under a minute, ive got 2gb of ram so not really sure but i will definitly give that batch compiler a try!!

oh and it crashes on the leafthread part, i read that can take the longest to complete but another strange thing is that the rmf file is over 2mb, strange coz it aint that much of a big map ? :S

Hi i know there is a post with the same name somewhere below however i think my situation differs due to the fact that hammer crashes midway through compiling... get as far as this

baseportalvis: 10% 20% 30%....etc

on this map anyways, i cant seem to compile any maps now and they crash at different points, by crash i mean lock up and if i touch the box it turns white and i have to ctrl alt del the problem away!

not really sure why this started as i have made quite a few maps now with no problems and i have compiled this particular map several times which makes it more frustrating coz its almost finished! :(

i was using 3.4 so i tried uninstalling it and installing 3.5 instead, same thing!! really bizarre!! im gona try using a batch compiler now but it wud be nice if there was a way to fix this problem! any helps appreciated!

tried taking a screenie but my computer goes into super slow motion and for some reason it dont work, and i cant copy the compiling box as when i touch it it goes white! :S

Title pretty much says it all, in a friends map the func_pushable boxes are also destroyable, except when they get destroyed they dont respawn in the next round! :(

Any ideas!!

Hi everyone!!

I was wondering if there was a way that you could allocate the bomb to a single spawn point every round?

I wana do this because im hoping to make a map where the terrorist team are divided in 2 groups, half already in the bombsite and the other half with the bomb, however it wont work with random allocation as a team-mate in the bombsite can just as easily get the bomb as a team-mate in the other group!
