So it doesn't have anything to do with the processor and does have to do with the mobo. Interesting how quickly that got turned around.

Funny because I have a board that doesn't have a pentium 4 [doesn't even support SSE2] but it supports usb booting. Explain to me how it works, I'm obviously too stupid.

Huh, seems the only possible option is to burn a CD\DVD or use a USB stick. No other viable option.
Also, anything, with rare exceptions, below P4 does not support USB boot.
Funny how the processor somehow dictates the motherboard's booting capabilities.
EDIT: lol'd at win95 comment. Good shit.

Well, that's the point, there aren't many good looking DX9 games because game developers never put out decently detailed environments, characters, or etcetera. We haven't even pushed DX9 to a good point and we're rushing out all this new DX11 and DDR5 technology? I think we need to actually push the envelope of what we have before we start to rush into entirely new technology.

EDIT: Right, my bad didn't realize what thread we were in.

I looked at your Samaritan demo and maybe I'm just completely blind but I see nothing that would require DX11 or that behemoth of a card. It looks like a tech demo that has for once actually pushed reasonably detailed environments and effects that could easily be accomplished with a good DX10 or DX9 card. Maybe DX11 helps detail slightly with the tessellation technology, but I see no reason you can't get that level of detail with a good DX9 card.

If anything I'm still not impressed. Look at the Nvidia head demo, and compare it to the Samaritan's head in that video in the close up. The technology to create highly detailed environments is not a dx11 and etc technology exclusive. We just chose not to utilize what we have now.

What's the point of having a car with 400 horsepower [GPU with DX11, DDR5 etc] when the roads you drive on [Games that you run] don't even let you properly reach it's full potential? [Properly utilize DX11, DDR5 etc]
Use a good high performing card that has lesser specs [DX9\10.1, 1GB DDR3 memory etc] and you're not going to be at a very large disadvantage to the DX11 and DDR5 cards, as very few games actually use the full potential of those newer technologies.

If games started to use DX11\DDR5\etc over DX9\DDR3\etc like games started to use DX9\DDR3\etc over DX7\DDR\etc, then purchasing that kind of hardware would make sense... But otherwise it makes as much sense as those people who buy 16GB of DDR5 ram, and then run games like Burnout Paradise and BF3. Unless there's a need for it [where anything lesser wouldn't get you very far], it's called unnecessary.

Now playing... on a bad ass card
User posted image
Meh at best.
If this is considered a 'bad ass card' then we really aren't pushing technology very far. Several years ago 1GB cards were the norm.
We need to push games and technology so that we could actually practically need or in some way utilize a 2GB DDR5 DX11 card, otherwise we'll just have another couple years of 2GB cards with no advancement or need short of bragging rights [EG: DX10 cards]

Maybe I'm just too stupid to appreciate 'amazing' technology, but I've played BF3 [the holy grail of PC graphics, apparently] with all the settings maxed out, AA maxed out, on a 1080p set and i was not impressed. This can't possibly be the best we have to offer.

Hammer and Sandbox 2 work very differently. What Urby's [logically] suggesting is to use hammer for brushwork (Cryengine is based around terrain, not brushes like HL) then use the WYSIWYG style editor for entity placement.

It looks like the front panel of a vending machine, not the entire machine.
EDIT: Confusing. It looks too thick to be just the front panel, and too thin to be a full machine. Is it supposed to be a future vending machine?

From what I can tell there's working lights but what about light fixtures built into the room itself? Is it still being constructed, because I would imagine there should at least be some fixtures in the room itself instead of just working lights.

I get what he means though, cs players aren't known for their best sportsmanship and griefing 10 year old bitches tend to take the most exploitable elements and well... Exploit them as much as they can.
Even non-griefers will abuse this stuff for their own benefit, accidental or dickfaced team flashes are frequent and bad enough as is. Giving molotovs to cs players is like giving molotovs to preschoolers. It ends bad.

Sorry about the err Zeeba, I thought rufee's only comment about movement was his post about source's burning movement therefore I thought you were saying that movement being restricted whilst burning alive was silly. Sorry, I'm too tired to be on TWHL right now.

I do still think it's a bit silly to treat this as though it's a negative 'change' just simply because it wasn't 'fixed' though. I mean, like you said, it's in every source game, so what's the problem? It wasn't intentionally put into CS:GO or anything... It's just different from 1.6.

Yeah of course, because when you're on fucking fire you can definitely expect to have clear, logically sound ability to move and control yourself.

And to argue that point is ridiculous anyways because every single source game works this way. Why do you act as though this is strictly a CS:GO issue?

Yeah, a simple explanation\breakdown would be:
Depth of field: The depth of the plane [Field] that accommodates acceptable focus.
Bokeh: The quality of the area that is outside of the acceptable focus plane [Field], usually referred to as the blur.

So basically, DOF is the in focus parts, Bokeh is to refer to the out of focus parts.
Crollo CrolloTrollo

in Post Your Photos Post #304929
Depends on what you're referring to.
If you're referring to what is in focus and what isn't, then you're referring to DOF (or FOV, although incorrect). [EG, the DOF is so shallow!]
If you're referring to the blur itself, you're referring to the bokeh. [EG, that bokeh looks so creamy, that bokeh looks horrible] Bokeh literally means "quality of blur".

This one has a lowest ISO of 80, and it has more noise then my Olympus does at ISO 320.
I'd love to have a Canon AT-1 or something like that but apparently all sellers in my area got smart and are charging upwards of $200 for working ones. Fuck them.
I wish I hadn't traded that FT QL + FL 50mm 1.8, that camera was worth so much yet I traded it for a plastic Rebel G and a shitty kit lens... Live and learn. :(
