I'm playing two games at the moment; Disco Elysium and The Outer Worlds.

Disco Elysium is a super dense, text heavy (seriously) rpg about a detective with amnesia who is tasked with solving a murder. There's no combat or stats in the traditional rpg sense. Instead, you put "stat points" into different aspects of the main characters personality, and those aspects become part of the story in a really cool way that's kind of hard to explain. Essentially each aspect of the main character become characters of their own, chiming in with advice and flavor text.

I'm really impressed with the writing in this game. Give it a try if you're into deep rpgs.

As for The Outer Worlds, I'm really not feeling it to be honest. I thought I'd love it seeing as it's made by Obsidian and it's been called a spiritual successor to Fallout New Vegas, but I can't help but feel like... Something's missing? I dunno.

It's nothing to do with their nationality
I disagree. They are stereotypical americans, and that's one of the reasons I don't like them :P

Farcry3.

Really enjoying it, and my pc seems to handle it a lot better than I had anticipated, which is a bonus. A fine game, but the protagonist and his stupid friends are impossible to relate to, or care about.

Playing through Dishonored as well. Really enjoying it so far, feels like a mix between Bioshock and Deus Ex: HR. :)

I get what you're saying, but have you played the extended ending? It fills in a lot of gaps. Also, how could they really answer every question after 3 remarkably open-ended games in which any number of major characters can die? They couldn't realistically make separate endings based on every single decision the player has made over three games. It's just not possible with a publisher like EA pushing deadlines.
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD

Yeah I have. It's an improvement but it still doesn't address some fundamental problems with the ending. Introducing a new character in the last 10 minutes of the game for example. I also have a problem with the new ending they added, it's cheap and pointless.

I'm gonna blame EA :P

I thought the ending to Mass Effect 3 was rancid pile of fecal matter. I have no problem with gloomy endings but I can't stand plotholes. I won't go further into it in case some other members want to experience it unspoiled.

Pretty good movie, but you kinda need to know a bit about the real murders in order to follow the plot. Still an alright flick

Yeah I know it's possible to change the graphics but it should have those options already, like every other shooter made since 1990 :P

My computer can handle it pretty well, unless there's a truckload of things exploding or whatnot. I'd just rather turn down the graphics a bit to gain a few fps. All that extra fluff really isn't that important to me.

Gameplay-wise I have no complaints so far; the power-stealth-armor mechanic is cool, and the sounds are awesome.

^ Poor Ant, or maybe he has finally upgraded?

Anyways, I just finished Dragon Age 2. It's a pretty good game, better than the first but it still has some glaring issues. The most obvious and annoying is the fact that the whole game takes place in 4-5 different areas, with every cave or dungeon being copy-pasted ad infinitum. It feels very small in scope.

On the plus side, combat is vastly improved.

7/10

Next game on the list is Crysis 2. So far it's pretty fun, but the complete lack of graphical customization sucks ass. It reeks of console port :/

My old GPU -which had an absolutely abysmal fan- would sometimes reach 80 degrees C. 130 degrees sounds really bad.

Update!

I got it running again with the new cpu & fan. It was most likely overheating like Luke suggested. Had it running my minecraft server the rest of the night and it peaked at around 50 degrees C with the fan going at just over 2k RPM, so it seems fine now.

My motherboard is an Asus P7H55, which supports core i5. My psu is a corsair with 550W output.

I'm leaning towards;

A) I failed at installing the fan, causing the cpu to overheat, or
B) Short circuit of some kind, like RotatorSplint described.

Anyways, thanks guys for taking the time to reply, it's much appreciated <3

Okay, so I installed my new cpu yesterday and everything seemed to be working just fine. Today when I get home from work and start up my computer, it shuts down after around 10 minutes. I start it once more, thinking that perhaps my new cpu is being overheated. So I run a stresstest, and it shuts down after jus ta few seconds. The temperature of the cpu at the time was 54 degrees celcius.

Now it won't start at all, even when I switch back to my old cpu and fan. Any ideas?

Here's what happens everytime I try to boot it:

switch on the power button on the psu, the green light on the mobo lights up, so my psu isn't completely dead. then i push the power button. The fans start spinning but stop after half a second. No warning beeps or anything.

Any help is much appreciated

Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of all time. I've completed it at least 8-9 times. My advice is to play it on hardcore or insanity, it's a lot more fun when people don't die instantly.

The sequel is even better :>

I have an iPod touch and I like it very much. But thing is, you really need to jailbreak it before it starts to shine. Apple is way too restrictive with what you're allowed to do with your device.

That's why I won't be getting an iPhone. I don't want to through the jailbreaking process everytime they release a new OS update.

I've ordered a P100 that should be arriving on monday or tuesday. Hopefully I can contribute to this thread by then.

On a side note, I tried making a HDR image using three versions of the same image with different exposure, and it worked out alright.

Disclamer: The image below was taken with my phone so naturally the quality isn't super, and I had to change the exposure after it was taken so it's not true HDR.

I watched "The Collector" the other day, with my girlfriend. It's about a guy that tries to break into a house to steal an item, but finds himself trapped with a psychokiller who's set up traps around the house.

I thought it was pretty "meh", although seeing a guy getting his head turned to mush by a beartrap was pretty nice. The problem I have with this movie is that it tries so hard to be like Saw, right down to the ending.

Console games are much more expensive than PC games, so a PC is a better choice.
There are plenty of cheap console games available through "Games on Demand" for example.
