in func_train+trigger_changetarget?? Post #29329
-I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere but I can't seem to find one among all the similar threads, and I read the tutorial but thats too basic. So if I could get a few pointers that would be great.

-I have built a relatively nice-looking 7-floor office building and would like to implement an elevator that behaves at an elevator would normally behave.
-Right now Im just trying to make a set of up and down buttons at each floor.
-I've read some tutorials on using func_train 's for other things and came acros the "trigger_changetarget" used to switch between two paths (I think).
-Could I possibly set up a path to go up and a path to go down both entirely separate an just do a trigger_changetarget on the func_train to get it to switch between th up and down paths??

-Any links to existing threads would be appreciated greatly (im not very good at digging stuff up)
-better yet just tell me if im on the right track <--rofl

Pffft.... you shouldnt be worrying about lag/r-speeds on a single-player map. At least not to the point where each tiny floor is a level unto-itself. Seriously make every five floors into a map or something if a persons comp cant handle that then they need to uninstall PERIOD :badass:

First off your not looking at the whole picture.
You need to consider the upload speed!
I just got my CS ded. box up (it used to run Halo) here comcast cable has 3Mbit download so its twice as fast a a T1 downoading. But the upload speed is an abominable 250-something. So I would have to buy 4 cable lines to equal the upload of a T1.
Even with that you would experience lag because almost all cable internet companies practice "throttling" of common game ports.
Even if you change your port often I have found that they will start intentionally lagging that port.
I have experienced this while running a halo server over a long period of time. And from setting up a test website.

So, if you are serious about good hosting screw cable, the original video cable network was never initially designed to handle uploading at all thats why they are so stingy with it.

10 Mbit would def. be a good bet especially if you anticipate clients having to dl custom maps.

Personally im interested in broadband over power lines 800 up + 800 down. 30$ a month, they are just starting to offer it. Plus the contract with powerline broadband has no "non-server" statements like comcasts. They let you run anything you want to!

Oh, BTW in europe they aren't usually called T1's.... they're called E1's and they run around 1900 Kbit/s. E1's are mainly/only US. :badass:

Anonymous person is right. Everything ive read on the subject regarding combining of objectives is totally against it and says that you'll be wasting your time because CS is "Just not designed to do such a thing".
